AOL impostor collected personal info for fake account recovery
Called number and supplied all information requested including copy of front and back of driver's license as well as a picture of myself. After lengthy conversation response was that the account could not be verified and that I would be contacted.
I was contacted by phone 2 days later and the whole story all over again with IDs and personal information to be submitted.
I believe this is an AOL scam. The callers are not US-based, probably Indonesia or India. I strongly suspect that the whole idea is to collect personal information for scam purposes.
User's recommendation: Watch out before calling numbers pretending to help recover your AOL Email account.
