I am a self-employed nail tech so I have to pick up calls no matter what area code. because people keep their cell number even when they move from state to state.

Even though I do womens nails a lot of times I get husbands or boyfriends who call to ask questions about gift certs or make appointments for their loved ones, or make an appointment for a pedicure for themselves.

On this particular day I answered the phone and the man on the other end asked if this was (my name)? Of course I said yes, He then hung up.

I got a sick feeling in my gut and immediately looked up phone calls done in that manner my gut was right. I have been a victim of the YES scam.

I am now on high alert and gave gone through and changed ALL my passcodes.

I'm not sure how to handle these horrible people when I run a business and am susceptible like this.

I said: "Hello this is __". They said my full name, as a question. I said "Yes." They hung up immediately. I learned afterwards that they use these to do fake charges on things.

The caller was the usual automated attendant opening statement "responding to your inquiry about medical insurance"

(there was no inquiry ! so they lied on the first statement & expect people to engage with them...

The automated recording was asking yes or no questions .. & finally would you like to speak to an account representative for a quote.

I allowed the phone call to get to a live person (then gave them the what for)

This abuse has to stop.

Called me and said they were an emergency agency and asked if I could hear her. I said yes I can hear you and she hung up. I called the number back and got a recording asking if I wanted my name taken off of their call list which I pushed two as instructed. After I hung up I realized it was a scam.

Normally I'm aware of the "yes" scam but I was caught off guard. While in the process of paying bills by phone, the number came up I didn't recognize it and I don't know why I did but I answered it.They said they were calling from somewhere (I did not hear where) gift Department and asked if I could hear them and I said "yeah" and I paused briefly and asked, "where are you calling from? And they hung up after I answered "yeah". immediately I realized it was the "yes" scam. I was quite upset at myself for answering the call. But then I thought about it and realized if they had my banking or credit card information they wouldn't need a yes from me and if I get a bill in the mail for something I did not order I will not pay for it. So I hope there isn't

anything that they will be able to use my "yeah" for. I get so irritated with these callers. And now I'm irritated with myself for answering the phone and for being dumb enough to say "yeah"!!

attempt to make me say yes, which I did.

Caller asked "Can you hear me?". When I answered "yes" they hung up immediately. Now I'm worried they recorded my answer and might use for false credit card charges.

They asked if this is Miss *** and I said yes and then they said they needed to talk to me about my timeshare and I told them I didn't own a timeshare and hung up. I'm concerned because I said yes when they ask if my name was correct and I have heard that they will use this to then try to make charges on your account and state that you had given permission through a verbal yes that they record

Recieved phone call from unknown number. Woman was on the line offering a free roof inspection service. I replied with "not interested" or "no thank you" (something aling thise lines... she then asked, "are you sure?" I responded with "yes".

After the call ended, I realized this may have been a "yes" scam phone call.

Asked if I could hear, said I’m looking for employment

- Brighton, MO, USA

They asked if this was me and I asked who it was and they asked if this was me again and I said yes and they hung up

- Millstadt, IL, USA

Phone call trying to get you to say yes. Then when you do say yes the phone call disconnects.

- Pickens, SC, USA

Answered the phone and caller hello, hello, are you there? Sound like the yes scam. When I tried to call back it was a constant busy signal.
