Type of a scam: Fake Check/Money Order

A company reached out to my ce .e Foods. I have done surveys and products experience surveys in the past and am sent invites occasionally so I thought nothing suspicious at first. However, the next time I heard back it was through a text stating that I had received an envelope in my mailbox with a cashiers check and instructions to carry out my task. It was a cashier's check for $2950. The check was from First Service Credit Union at 9621 W Sam Houston Parkway N, Houston, Tx 77064. It looks pretty legitimate. I immediately knew it was not. The check also came with a bad photo copy of instructions to carry out my task. It was in black and white. Used a couple of Whole Foods logos. However, the instructions were for me to to any store who sells Nike gift cards. They asked me to deposit my check in my bank account and buy $2500 worth of Nike gift cards. They further instructed me to send a picture of the front of the gift cards and the redemption code on the back of the cards to the cell phone number from which they texted me. They then told me I could keep the $450 for payment. And, if I did all of this within 12 hours I would get other bonuses in the amount of $250. I was to survey 2-3 stores total. Buying in the amounts of $100 or $200 or $500 denominations.
