Whitestein Technologies Ltd Reports & Reviews (1)

- Indianapolis, IN, USA

Initially I received a (random) text message from a "Dr Martin Avila" identifying himself to be with an international company called Whitestein Technologies Ltd. At first it didn't click with me that this could be a scam because I have been applying to job offers with both Indeed and LinkedIn. My phone number is of course on my resume so having a recruiter contact YOU with a job offer is quite possible.

I should have, in retrospect, caught that it was a scam when he asked for my email address (because that information is also on my resume) but I didn't. An in-depth job description was emailed to me, and was well within my area of expertise so we continued. From there "Dr Martin Avila" moved the process to Google Hangouts. The interview process proceeded with no questions that made me suspicious.

The following day (via Google Hangouts) I was notified that "the board" was impressed and an official job offer was made. I received the job offer via email and was asked to sign and return it. The 2 week training period could now begin!

"Training" sessions were done via Google Hangouts and consisted of daily "tasks". Tasks included such things as writing a detailed report on banking reconciliation and its processes. Again, writing reports is not something I am unfamiliar with so this threw up no red flags for me.

For me, the red flag came when "Dr Martin Avila" and I were discussing my paycheck direct deposit payments. Apparently, GreenDot Banking is "not an approved" banking system so I was asked to set up a more "traditional" system that would be acceptable, or recognized by "their" system.

Having not worked with an international company I reached out to two friends whom have international companies as clients. I was informed that GreenDot Banking has these scammers FLAGGED which is why it was "not acceptable".

Fortunately, the only information this scammer received from me was my email and home address. The scammer is still trying desperately to get me to set up a brick and mortar banking account by calling me via Google Hangouts TWICE this morning! If I weren't so pissed off about the scam job offer I'd actually toy with the [censored] just to see how far he goes with the scam so he can be arrested!
