Unauthorized Bank Charges Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

Called my bank because of strange charge that had no information besides “draft” and a bunch of numbers and it said it was a check that I approved. I do not own a check book. Bank said it was from a company called homeguard and had the number for the customer service line. Called that number and spoke to a very heavy Indian accented “Sam” that said he was a cancellation customer service expert for multiple companies. I did not tell him my name or anything about me but he was able to look me up very quickly and tell me about the service I purchased from this homeguard company. I do not own a home. I told him I did not authorize any of this and asked how they got my account information. He avoided answering that and asked if I wanted to cancel my services. I said obviously I do and want an automatic refund. He told me he had to put me on hold to cancel my services. He never put me on hold because I can still hear typing background noise. He said he has canceled my services so I won’t be getting any more charges from them, but I have to call back on may 21st to get my complete refund. I asked him why I needed to call back it should automatically be put back in the same way y’all automatically took it out somehow. He just repeated that I need to call back on the 21st because the payment on their end is still pending. The payment had been fully processed from my bank 5/13 (yesterday). I told them that they are scammers and I was going to report them immediately. They told me to have a good rest of the day and hung up. Reporting this to my bank as well, because I am thinking it possibly has to do with activating my new updated debit card. I recall when I called to activate my card, a very heavy Indian accented man answered and told me that my bank was giving out $100 gift cards to their loyal customers. So I am thinking they are somehow getting our information from people calling to activate their bank cards. I do not ever recall having to speak to a person to activate my card. I have not received any $100 gift card from my bank yet, and I activated my card 4/26 I believe. So putting both of these incidences together, I know I have been scammed by this homeguard company and they have all of my bank account information I believe from me calling to activate my card and getting offered a $100 gift card for being a loyal customer to my bank. I guess I will be calling them again on the 21st to make sure they process my refund.
