Started with an email to my college school outlook email from a different email (someone at the school), opening to "Faculty, Staff, and Students," saying to reply to [email protected] with your personal email and not your edu email. (in this email they claimed: "This opportunity should be done at leisure taking at most 1 hour per day,2-3 times a week and earn $550 Weekly.." and that we could work from home or school and "serves as a gateway to pay all expenses incurred on campus".) I emailed the given email saying I was interested, giving my name, age, and the college I go to, asking if the job was still available. They sent back a very long email that repeated itself a lot and was not quite using proper English. he opened with "How are you doing today ? I am Thomas Greither, a busy business owner Lakewood CHARITY FOUNDATION, looking for a great local personal assistant. I would love to find a detail-oriented and personal assistant who loves organization, enjoys learning new things, as well as generally helping out with whatever is needed." and then saying, "Work time is up to 8 hours a week, and hours can be split throughout the week. You'd have to choose what hours work best for you."
The first task that he gave me was:
"I make donations to 2 orphanage homes every month and, In your capacity you will receive a check payment from me, which you will use to purchase some toys, Gift Cards and other gift items for the orphanage homes. I will email you the list of all items to be purchased at the store and all the necessary information on how to get it mailed out to the orphanage homes.
I offer You An excellent Total Compensation package, including Competitive payment, Excellent Be befit Package and Growth Opportunities. We Believe in Our team and you to do excellent work with us.
Position P.A : Personal Assistant & Errand Carried out
Type : Part-Time Job
Monday- Saturday : Working Days

As you can see, it is worded like a scam email. It goes on to repeat itself, multiple times, that it is a flexible opportunity and that you can work from home/school/campus and that you don't need a car or to travel anywhere. It also says to check your emails daily to keep in contact. Then he says to answer these questions:
"* Do you have access to a printer ?
* Do you have an existing bank account where you can deposit your
check ( If YES what's the name of the bank) ?
* Reconfirm your present local address for mail delivery.
* What is your Mobile # that receives text msg ?
* Confirm your full name for the check?
* Do you know how to initiate a mobile deposit ?"
Closed with:
"Kindly make sure you acknowledge this email as that will re-confirm your readiness and willingness to proceed. Make sure to constantly look at my email and will be on stand-by to receive future instructions.

I realized it was a scam after trying to look up "Thomas Greither Lakewood Charity Foundation" and with scam trackers and the Syracruse University's ITs "Phishing Bowl'. Never emailed back.
Here are direct copy and pasted versions of both emails I recieved:

As soon as you have received the check payment, you will deduct your paid weekly allowance ($550) payment from it and you will use the rest to purchase the toys.
NOTE: It's a Flexible part-time job where you will determine your working time. All the tasks are work from home/on campus job, you don't need to travel somewhere and you don't need to have a car to get started. Ensure you check your emails daily so you can keep in contact with me because I will be communicating with you mostly through email. It is nice to have you on board as my Personal Assistance.

and came to them sending me a check and wanting to send a screenshot of the deposit. Later in the day I then came on here to see that it was not legit now I down know what to do cause I already deposited the check and yeah. A great learning lesson tho!

I "applied" for this PA position and the email kept asking for bank info and name and how much I can put in my account per day. He says he is in Australia and I would get paid in a Cashier's check and I take my $550 a week and the rest do what he wants me to do like buy toys for kids,seniors and Veterans.
