Received the following email below and multiple follow-ups. Nobody I know nominated me because I am not even in a leadership role. But as the email below states, that I have been selected as a finalist and would be recognized only after activating a membership which costs $495USD => $690CAD.

Hi XXXX,

We are pleased to inform you that, NAME, TITLE, have been selected as a finalist for The Top Women Leaders of CITY for 2025. Your professional background and career track record were evaluated, resulting in your placement among the top women executives and leaders.

For background, Women We Admire (WWA) is a membership organization comprised of over 3,000 of the most accomplished women leaders in business, finance, healthcare and other fields such as law, consulting, education, non-profit, among others.

I believe this is a vanity award scam. The person reached out saying that I had been selected to receive an award, but first had to pay for membership to the organization, which doesn't appear to offer any real benefits with its "membership." The text of the email is below:

Hi *****,

We wanted to let you know that you, ***** ******, ******** ** ************** ** ******** *********** ** ******* ********* *** **************, have been selected as a finalist for The Top 50 Women Leaders of DC for 2023. Our selections were based on a methodical review of women executives and leaders across the area. You were identified and your career track record up to and including your current leadership position was further reviewed.

For background, Women We Admire (WWA) is a membership organization comprised of over 1,200 of the most accomplished women leaders in business, law, consulting, education, non-profit as well as other sectors. In addition, our digital publications are distributed to over 32,000 professionals in technology, finance, healthcare, real estate, and consumer products, among many other industries.
