We were attempting to co-sign for an apartment at The Current in Bend Oregon with our adult son who had just under the minimal income for the rental there. Our son talked with Lily O'Toole, saleswoman. She told him if I co-signed with him - without my husband's social security number in this day and age of scams - we would meet the requirement. We had questions, phoned, texted and email, often waiting for a response, and being told to hurry to fill out the application to meet their "move-in" offer and they required paying $50.00 just to fill it out. We/I did so. Three days later she emailed that she needed my husband's information as well - and that our son's income was not even included !?!? And the rental price had increased from the original quote. We have rented/bought houses for 50 years. This felt like buying a used car from a disreputable dealer: half truths and ambiguity.
