Trying to set up my cricut I was told it would not load due to a firewall that needed to be added . They ask to remotely take over my computer which I allowed . They then proceeded to add a firewall and ask for $99. I did not pay this but now my PC and network is compromised.

When trying to set up my new crafting machine, I mistyped the domain name and these people started an online chat with me. They pretended to be from Cricut and said they'd help get me up and running. After giving them remote access to my PC, they said I had viruses, etc sand they could fix it for $150. So now I'm suspicious and call Cricut and of course they say they never heard of these folks and I shouldn't have talked to them. When I tell tekwire that, they immediately apologize and end the call but who knows what viruses they installed on my PC or what info they stole when they had access? Beware and don't be fooled like I was!

This computer software company installed software on my computers in 2019 for zone firewall protection, windows driver, windows 10, Mcafee, and VPN encryption. Each year they requested more funds, yet my computers remained compromised. The final request was to receive my bank account information because they said my identity was compromised yet I was compromised under their care. Each year they would say my computer was compromised and ask for a one-time fee to solve the problem once and all. Yet, they would call the next year with the same complaint that my computer was compromised, and they needed additional money to solve the problem once and for all.

I received an email stating my McAfee subscription had expired by email. I signed up for a two renewal, and received a receipt. The expiration notice was to my current email. After filling out the renewal I realized that an incorrect email was listed. I next tried to update my email and was told, on-line, my account had been suspended. I did all of this on what seemed to be a McAfee website.

I then went through an on-line chat with someone I thought was from McAfee. I gave this individual control of my computer. He informed me that I had no firewall and that my computer had spyware and that they were copying keystrokes. He said McAfee couldn't fix the problem but Tekwire could and that they could fix the computer. He in turn transfered me to Tekwire, and they proceeded to load softwre and to remove non-existent problems. They had me sign-up for a five year Firewall Program and a five year McAfee program. At the end of the session they told me I had to pay by check the next day and they would call to get the information. I told him credit card only and he responded it would be one year at a raised price.

After the call I became suspicious and contacted McAfee. I was told they sold no 5 year programs and I had one year left on my current contract. They also said firewall protection was part of McAfee and that they did not work with Tekwire. The McAfee representative removed everything from my computer that Tekwire installed. McAfee provides a firewall as part of their software, no extra firewall was needed.

As far as I am concerned, Tekwire is conducting a fraudulent business, their employees are confidence artists, and they prey on non-computer savvy people.

A tech stated my internet was compromised and sold me a VPN protection. The invoice was for $199.99 for 3 years protection. The invoice was not available for payment. He claimed to clear off a person attempting to log into my internet. He signed into my computer. I had two tech make the attempt to clear all attempts to enter my internet.

I was setting up my brand new computer and when installing Office 365, I got a pop up then a man called me saying he was with Microsoft, he had an Indian accent. I believed the man and allowed him access to my computer, after four hours they called me and said they would call me the next day for me to make the payment of $259.00. Mind you, they said the only payment I could make was through e-check. I called my bank, explained to them the situation and all sorts of red flags came up. I was instructed to disconnect my computer from the internet immediately and take my computer back to Best buy to have it checked out. So, I took my computer in to the Geek Squad and they found a lot of suspicious things, so now they are wiping the whole system to make sure there are no hidden viruses. I didn't even have my computer 24 hours and now I have to wait 3 days to get it back thanks to these hackers. Please note, Microsoft will NEVER call you or email you, they only go through pop ups.
