When our flight got canceled with American Airlines, we called customer service to get a new booking home. When we were placed on hold for reservations, we spoke to a woman named Eleanor who we believed was an American Airlines agent. She rebooked our return home and charged us $786.56. In the moment, it seemed legitimate because our travelers did not have the tickets that allowed for changes. However, once we received the conformation email that looked illegitimate, we were able to determine the agency who booked our flight was indeed an imposter. When we reached the real American Airlines customer service line, they confirmed we had the flight home, but they would have NOT charged us for a cancelation caused by the airline... therefore, we reported this company to our credit card company and also requested a refund from the agency for fraudulent activity.
