I was having issues with my new Quickbooks Desktop software. I went to the help menu on Quickbooks desktop and started a chat. In the middle of the chat I was told an "Expert" was going to call me. I received a call immediately. I answered the call and explained my issues with not being able to access the admin capabilities of the program because I was being told I wasn't the admin...but I am and I was the only user at that time. I was told by the "quickbooks expert" that I didn't have data migration capabilities with desktop gold, my current subscription. I was very frustrated and tried to figure out another way to resolve the issue but I was told that there was not other way. I was then asked to go to "support.me" to allow screen sharing so they could work on the "back end" to fix the problem. I now know that real quickbooks doesn't access your computer this way. I didn't know that at the time. I was told that they would cancel my existing subscription, refund my the prorated amount base on me purchasing the license in April 2023 and then charge me for the new subscription. I was told over and over this was the only way. I finally agreed. I received an "intuit" refund on the credit card we originally purchased quickbooks desktop with. Then I saw the new charges....$530 from Intuit for the new payroll license and "$1350 from Smartbooks. We tried for days to correct the original admin issues I was having. Nothing was fixed after 18 hrs of trying to work through the issue. I finally demanded that they cancel everything and give me all of my money back. This was not an easy ask. I pushed and pushed. I was bounced between "Josh" with quickbooks and then he said he was with Smartbooks to "Ryan" who was billing for Smartbooks. I finally told them I was seeking help elsewhere and I was told they would mail me a check for the $1350 for the quickbooks desktop subscription and initiate a refund for the $530 for payroll. I didn't want a check for the $1350 but they told me there was not other way to get a refund. I then called a different number which was quickbooks billing. They told me they have no idea who Smartbooks is and that they couldn't see that activity on my account. At that time I knew we were being scammed. I went to my credit cards and had a $7.53 charge for an odd phone service that was not a charge I initiated. We immediately cancelled our credit cards associated with the quickbooks/smartbooks accounts. Our credit card is reviewing the charges as we filed a dispute. Quickbooks is not refunding us in full for the original purchase and can't assure us that this date breech won't happed again. The even stranger part is we received a certified letter with the refund check on 9/19/23 for $1350 from Accounting and Tax Pros Inc DBA Hire Assistant, 3393 Vineyard Trl, Harker Heights, TX 76548-8847. We are not cashing this check and are keeping it with our records for this entire mess.

When I originally spoke with the "experts" from "Quickbooks" the set up a "notes" file on my computer with how I could get in touch with them. I am pasting that information below.
