Applied to a job posting on Indeed about a remote customer service job for State Farm. Being that I have never worked from home, I thought the entire process would be done online. I went through an interview process, received an email for a job offer, then once the “onboarding” process started I became really skeptical because they asked me to send my ID…I did…(stupid me) but then a 213 number texted me saying that this would be our main point of contact now. They said they wanted to send me a check to deposit digitally for equipment…they emailed the check and told me to print it, cut it out and deposit to my bank account and buy the equipment from their vendors. I asked right then was it a scam and never received a text back

Same thing happened to me, after some more talking they sent a cashapp with the name: Johntia Wimbley, a middle aged black woman with an ugly [censored] kid, do what you want with that info…

- Monroe, GA, USA

I got a cell text with offer to wrap my vehicle for 500 dollars per week for 1 to 3 months with a check being sent to me up front and waiting for it to clear my bank I take my 500 and the rest goes to tech who do the wrap but when he sent email to me from [email protected] I couldnt answer the questions he asked because the questions weren't set up so you could answer them. So he texted me calling me a different name other than my own. I sent a text that that was no my name he said I had not answered his email questions something seemed fishy after i answered questions through text I googled his phone number and it came up as an okcaller.com phone number out of ohio so I thought if he's in ohio why is he using gmail then after a little more research I found out about an old car wrap scam. The offer seemed legitimate at first because they said the check would come and they would wait until it cleared which was exactly how the scam was described even down to the $500 per week payment
