Someone from spectrum contacted me to see if I wanted to switch from AT&T to spectrum. They said I could get 24 months of internet for $12 a month. I gave him all my information including my debit card number. I had a appointment with them today and when I called to verify Spectrum said they never called me or set up a appointment. It was a scam.

I got a call from someone saying they had a promotion for Spectrum for seniors. They asked me questions like the first 5 of my SSN and a few other things, They asked for my credit card info, they needed to take $5.00. I told them I was going to call Spectrum and they told me Spectrum doesn't know about the promotions. They then asked me for the last 4 of my SSN. I didn't give it to him. He said they would call back in 10 minutes but when they called I didn't answer. I later checked and they tried using $60.00 from my credit card at UPS but it was denied because I advised the credit bureaus.

I received a phone call from Spectrum yesterday, April 12 and said there has been some trouble in my area and they would have to upgrade the cable boxes. I stated there are no issues, and they said well not now, but in 5 days you will lose all channels and service. They wanted $174 to protect my account for 20 years. I found it difficult to understand what was being said. I said I was going to call Spectrum and he said no no no, I am Spectrum, look at your caller ID.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Spectrum. They told me they needed to update my boxes or they wouldn't work. I asked how much it would cost and they told me it was free. Then I was told because I was a good customer they would lower my bill from $128.00 to $98.00 a month for a year. He told me to turn on my tv and standby for instructions while they update it. He then told me they would give me 3 months of free service (April, May and June). I was also told they would give me a free channel but I told him I hardly use the channels I have. I was then transferred to someone else who told me they would charge me $240.00 for the update and then once it was paid they would reimburse me. I told the lady that the guy I spoke to first told me it was a free update. She tried to get me to pay and I told her I wouldn't. She told me if I took the boxes to a local Spectrum store to be updated they would charge me $900.00. I was getting angry with her tone of voice and I asked her several times what her name was, she wouldn't answer and she hung up on me.

I received a call from someone claiming to be Spectrum saying they could lower my payment. I gave them my information and made the mistake of giving them my social and my credit card number. They gave me a phone number to call but when you call it sounds like a fax. They gave me a confirmation number and the name of a supervisor. I called Spectrum and they advised me that this was a scam, it was not them who called.

I Googled the phone number for Spectrum customer service and found 833-353-2882. I called and they answered as Spectrum, they looked up my bill and told me the amount I owed. I paid the bill over the phone by credit card and they text me the payment confirmation. I called Spectrum using the number on my bill the next day and they told me they had no record of my payment. I called my bank to dispute the charges and they told me the business that pulled the money from my account was called Fateh Freightways & Co. not Spectrum.

I answered a phone call today from a man claiming to be with Spectrum Sales and Promotion. His name was Edward Wilson. He said they are working with the Better Business Bureau and Federal Government to give senior discounts. I do not have the number that called. His employee ID number was G4009. At first it sounded authentic. He insisted on getting my Social Security number so I could receive my discount. I said I will call Spectrum and the ScamPulse.com to verify this. He got agitated. It sounded suspicious when he asked for my Social Security number. I did not give my Social Security number. I did give my my name and address. I thought it was authentic until he wanted my Social Security number. He was insistent. He knew I was a senior.

[BBB transcription via phone call from the consumer]

Consumer stated the business called stating they were Spectrum and wanted to save senior citizens money. They asked for social security number which pretty much ended the call. Consumer did not give anything but the last 4 digits full name and birthdate.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Spectrum. They said since I have been a terrific customer I could receive 40% off for the next 2 years. I would have to pay $600.00 up front in Target gift cards. I called one of the phone numbers they left me, I spoke to two people, one was Jeff the other was Shaq. When you call they even have Spectrum music in the background. They knew all of my information including my account number and security code as well as all of the charges on my bill. I called Spectrum and their fraud department told me this was a scam and they had me change my security code.

Promotion to cut bill in half from Spectrum for 2 years but have to pay the first 6 months of half the bill with a Target gift card loading it with a credit card and won't have to make another payment till December and telling you don't pay any fees on the gift card from the store you get it and tell them it is for personal use only not for a business and when you get the cards call the billing department and you have about 100 minutes to complete this transaction and you will receive a gift card for 100 dollars its called 100 minutes for 100 dollars don't be fooled

I was called today by a woman named Danielle Smith who said she was with Spectrum; asked what I was currently paying; if my payments were current, & said she could lower my monthly payments by $40. She said she would need to delete my current file to do that, so I agreed. I initially declined to provide my SSN, she said she wouldn't be able to create a new file, since my old file had been deleted, & that my service would be cut off. She said I could call ScamPulse.com because the phone call was being recorded. I finally gave her my SSN, DOB, Spectrum account number & security code, CC# & security code. She already had my name, phone number, & address. She did not give me a new account number. She told she would call in 24 hours to verify the call & to arrange a date to pay the February bill, which would be $105.99, the $120 for 24 mos. I called Spectrum afterwards & was told they had not made the call and did not have such a promotion.

I am getting continuous calls from different numbers showing up as Spectrum. When I answer the phone they say they are from Spectrum and want to talk about my account. I called Spectrum and they said it is not them and that they do not call out to their customers.

I have been receiving phone calls from Spectrum for about a year and a half. They call two to three times a day. They say this is a courtesy call from Spectrum. I do not have Spectrum. I am satisfied with AT&T. I tell them I am not interested and to take me off their list. They continue to call. I do not have their phone number. I don't have caller ID.

I was sitting as my mother got a call from this number and they said she could save $40 a month if she signed up and gave $199 now. I took the phone from my mother and I asked the caller what this was all about and they said all customers of Spectrum are getting this call. I told them now, we weren't going to pay this and they said the cable would be disconnected

I received a call from a person claiming to be Spectrum and she gave her name as Jessica Brown and gave me her number at 805-334-3242 ext 129 but the call came in as 440-346-6047. I was offered a discount along with 2 months free and she advised I just needed to make a payment with a check or money order for $240. I advised her I would not be sending a check or money order. A few days later they called back and wanted to know if I mailed a check or money order yet and I said no, I wasn't going to be sending anything.

I received a call to upgrade my Spectrum cable box. She, Julia James, ph#747-877-3901, asked me to turn off my tv and leave the cable box on to reprogram it. Since I was an excellent customer she was going to lower my bill by $30 a month for two years. The fee for the upgrade was $299.72 which was to be paid by check within two days sent to Spectrum, PO Box 14473, Albuquerque, NM, 87191. The money would be made up to me by not billing me for April, May and June. I called customer service at Spectrum and obviously they said it sounded like a scam. So, I have contacted you with all the info I have so hopefully you can shut them down. Thanks

On Dec., 30th at 3:43 pm, a man called my cell phone. He was speaking broken English. He was talking away but I really couldn't understand him. I said, "I can't understand you." He said, "Am I ok now?" I said, "ok" He replied "ok?" and then he proceeded to hang up. I called the number back 2 times following the call and both times my phone said my number was rejected. I got a weird feeling about it. I hope I just didn't say ok to some scam.

I wanted to document what happened in case someone tries to now do something with my "ok" I know better than to answer unrecognized numbers, but my daughter was at JFK in New York and I thought it could be her.

Thank you for your time.

Had someone from a number showing it was coming from Charlotte, NC call me this morning at 9:30 am on 2/17/18. Asked me if I had Spectrum Service. After I said yes, they disconnected from me. I called the number back and it was disconnected.

it was one of those "Say Yes" scams where they record your voice for fraud. They said Hello, and i said "yes" as soon as i did they hung up. I had just answered the phone from taking a nap. when i called back it keeps dropping the call. after looking up information on it i found out it was a scam to get people just to say "Yes", so they can use your recorded voice for fraudulent purposes. They tell people usually they are from Spectrum Business. I was dumb enough to answer. DO NOT ANSWER. I have no clue what will happen to me now.
