Inquired about a Facebook marketplace advertisement on an apartment/condo for rent in the Northern Virginia area.

I was given a phone number to call, in which a woman under the alias, "Olivia Frank" answered. She took some personal information (first, last name, email, job title, income, and potential credit rating). Following that, she sent me an email to a seemingly scam-like website with a $1 charge to check my credit and income.

I cut any further contact at this point.

Looking on facebook marketplace for short term rentals - came across a place next to where I was looking. Sent the host a message and received comments back like I need your credit score etc. sent a screen shot then received a number where they did the same thing. I received a email from a women named "angela david" and at first it came up as spam and from a gmail account. The women then mentioned that I needed to call another number in the morning since they are closed, I looked up the number and found it on the Better business bureaus scam tracker.

Person had house for rent on Craiglist. I emailed for information. They asked to pay $1 for credit check but would not five me address of property yet. After paying through website, they asked me call a # to pay another $1 to another website for financial history. All people spoken to were asians with basic names (Ken Wood & Anna Brown). At this point I felt a scam and hung up the phone.

I found a rent house I was interested in on Craigslist. I called the number on the listing and reached someone named “Alice Warner”. I was sent a link to Rocket Credit Scores powered by IdentityIQ. I gave my name, address, and social security number to obtain my credit score from this website. I was asked to take a screenshot of my score and send it to the same address that emailed me the link (Alice Warner). I was sent an email with a showing time but the house number was not listed on this email or on the listing on Craigslist. I called back multiple times to get the house number and was told “Alice” would call me back within a couple of minutes then I was hung up on each time. “Alice” never called back or responded to my email requesting the house number.
