I hired Russell Stoddard, Rusty’s Tile Services, in August to remodel my master bath. He told me he was a licensed contractor and bonded. He told me he could start my project in September if I made a 50% deposit to hold the spot on his schedule. In September, Russell notified me that he would not be able to start until October. I told him I had friends coming in town at the end of October and I would need the bathroom finished before they came. He reassured me the work would be finished before their arrival. It is now the end of December and the work is still not finished. Russell has been paid in full and refuses to finish the work. I had to hire another contractor to finish the work. He re-scheduled the start of my project 3 times, did not show up most days and when he showed up to work it was late afternoon. Hiring him has caused me to miss work, lose money and I still don’t have a usable bathroom.

Well, considering I never take final payment until the job is done... this is a false review. I start work in the morning.. There are situations where I would postpone the start of a job. If the job I am on has issues like water damage that I could not see, or a change to a scope of work on a job BEFORE your job, but, that is why there is no hard start date on the estimate that is signed by both the homeowner and I. I give a tentative start date that does get pushed out sonetimes. It happens. As for final payment without completion of the work. That never happens because final payment is upon completion. Every homeowner I have worked for knows that and I can provide a couple hundred signed estimates with invoices sowing jobs are never paid in full till the job is done.
