Residents Energy LLC Reports & Reviews (3)

- Philadelphia, PA, USA

Sales agent Javon Maver wearing Residents Energy branded clothing knocked on my door. States that he is going around the neighborhood to try to help people lower their cost on their gas and electric supplier.

Requested my electric and gas bills, explaining that they wanted to look at how much I was getting charged from my local gas/electric company for supplying the gas/electric. Their intent was to gather more information from my bill without my knowledge, such as the account number and Electric Choice ID.

Agent states that I can use my phone to view all the information that will be sent to me. The intention was to get me to use my phone to obfuscate that I was signing for a contract instead of getting more information sent over to me.

Agent proceeded to quickly gloss over certain terms and conditions on the phone without me being able to review them at my own pace, even at my request, stating that the agent needed to be present before being able to continue. I reluctantly proceeded, stating that I will not proceed with anything before reviewing to my satisfaction.

Agent then lies about being able to review the details of the contract that I didn't even know I was signing up for, stating that I needed to sign the first page in order to get to the second page. Upon reaching the second page, agent proceeds to agree to certain terms in my stead, without me being able to fully review what those terms were. He quickly glosses over towards the end where he clicks the final confirmation to agreeing to the contract without my consent, to which I said I did not agree to signing up for their services.

Agent states that he's sorry but does not offer any recourse besides calling the company in order to cancel for the service that I did not consent to sign up for.

This occurred on a Friday, which makes it harder for me to get the service cancelled because where I live, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, there is a three-day right of rescission. Having this period of time occur over the weekend makes it harder for me to get this done.

The agent also stated that I will be receiving documents through email. It's been over 5 hours and I have yet to receive any documentation.

My husband opened the door to a man claiming to be from ComEd who said we are being double charged for our energy bill and that he could fix it. He had my husband show him our ComEd information, did something on his own phone, then had my husband sign a number of documents on the scammer's phone. My husband then got a text saying that we are signed up for Resident's Energy, which in it's Google reviews has multiple people with the exact same story saying they then had their billing information stolen and were charged exorbitantly.

Received ltr dated 9/21/22 welcoming to their program which they enrolled me in for gas and electric without me ever hearing of this company. My mail goes to my brother/sister-in-laws house, the company contacted them and scanned them into the program which they were luckily able to cancel. The letter indicates that my sister-in-law had authority to enroll me, which she did not. She indicated that my name NEVER CAME UP IN CONVERSATION. There is a witness to this phone call and the witness indicated that my name was NEVER mentioned in the call but yet because my mail goes to that address they think that can usurp my utility services to enroll me in their program which I would never agree to. Trying to contact them was a waste of time, just get the run around. All they ask for is the names and account numbers of my utility companies which I refused to provide to them since I have already been scammed by them. I have contacted my utility companies to alert them to this scam and to not transfer my accounts to Residents Energy. This company should not be allowed to be in business. Someone needs to file a class action suit against them for their fraudulent activities.
