I have been fighting with United Airways to get a refund for a flight that they cancelled back in July. I have spend 14+ hours on the phone with United and Norwegian Cruise Lines and have talked to many different customer relations people. Customers are unable to actually reach the people who do the refunds. Only agents can contact the customer care team. I called one of the numbers I found on-line or was given by another agent during one of my many calls. During this call, the man said customer relations would make a special exception and refund my $598 for the flight if I paid $450. I would get a reimbursement of $969.57 on my credit card. He said he had to re-book the flight and cancel it again in order to get the refund. He already had our names, birth dates, flight number and the last 4 digits of my credit card. I told him I wasn't comfortable doing this over the phone and he said he would email me the information, which he did. After thinking about this, it didn't seem right and I never called back to actually do the refund. I am still fighting with United to get my refund. The new DOT law states they have to refund it but they are refusing to give it to me. I am very weary now because I don't know who I am talking with and any time I called, I was told I can't be connected to the same agent I spoke to previously. I have made probably 45 calls. I have been connected to agents in Bogota Columbia, Chicago, and many other places each time I called and NONE of them are native English speakers so it makes it even harder to know if I am speaking to someone legit. I am very frustrated! I still have a copy of the email.
