The scammer advertised as “free”. I created a QR code then went to print with it. They then emailed a few days later saying they were deactivating the QR code unless I subscribe for a relatively high rate. This was very shady . They have tons of online reviews agreeing. Unethical

This website claims to offer free QR codes. No where on the website does it say the free QR code is only a 7 day trial. After the trial runs out, they charge $40 a month to keep the QR running. They scam people into creating QR codes for free and then make them pay a week later to use it. Total scam.

They are tricking people into using what is normally a free service then turning it off once its too late to stop using the service and charge reprehensible prices.

This website is legitimate but their business practices are scammy and shady. First, they buy their competitors' keywords and advertise so they look like they actually are their competitors (Bitly, QR Code Monkey, etc.). Second, they offer a free QR code but the page you land on is NOT free but for a paid dynamic QR code that is "free" for seven days (then it stops working unless you pay an exorbitant fee). A link to the free static code is at the bottom of that page but nowhere on that page does it say what is free and what is not. Third, they don't tell you the dynamic code is not free until after the QR code has downloaded and I had already closed the page so I never saw that it wasn't free. Fourth, once my QR code stopped working, I was frustrated but went to pay thinking it was $19 a year (doable) but I was in such a panic that I missed the small print that it was $19 a month billed for a year. Within seconds, I realized I'd lost almost $250 and emailed the company about my honest mistake and the said "no refunds" and stopped responding to my emails. There are so many bad reviews for this company out there but I wanted to file a complaint here so even more people would not do business with them.

Company's advertising in Google reads "Free QR code". This marketing turns out to be an extortion tactic. After a week, you will be asked to pay, or your link will be deactivated. They do this by mediating to your desired link through a website hosted by them. This ruined our wedding stationery by making the QR code completely useless.

I created wedding invitations that included a QR code to our wedding website in order to RSVP. QRFY marketed "Create your free QR Code" and I opted to use their website to create the code. The invitations were printed prior to receiving an email stating that I had to pay money for a subscription in order to continue using the QR code. This is false marketing and deceiving if they send an email for a required subscription a whole week after generating a code through their website and after money is spent on paper goods. I refuse to pay QRFY their subscription fee because it feels like they are "winning" and I want to warn people of this scam. Don't believe the good reviews out there on this company.
