I was going to buy a 5 month old Dachsund puppy from him and he was going to ship it with American Pets Trip from South Carolina to me in Colorado. He wanted $250 for the down payment and then I paid the $400 for the rest of the cost a few days later. Included in that cost he said was a $240 transport fee. His supposed name was Luther Cantu and he asked for a Zelle payment to his "fiancee" Brandy Smith and then another payment to his "co-worker" Erica Thomas. The puppy was supposedly picked up SC and then flown to Atlanta, GA where he was put on "hold" because the probably fake pet travel company emailed me and said that a life insurance fee of $950 needed to be paid for the puppy, before they would send him on to me. "Luther" said he could pay $450 of it and asked if I could pay $500 of it. I stupidly did. Then the next morning, I got another email from the supposed travel company that he needed a special air conditioned crate and that the temperature was too high and that he needed two other vaccines that they gave the names or in order for him to be sent to Denver. I was told that he would be accompanied by a person from the travel group and taken care of and he would be flown in the main cabin. "Luther" of course writes and tells me that he isn't "doing very well" and sends me a picture of a dog crate on a scale at an airline counter. Again, he says he can cover $450 of it, if I could cover the rest of the $980 requested because he had just put a payment down on a new house and he was short of cash. I refused to do it. Then he asked if I could send $300 and I refused to do it. He was texting with me all day, but of course wouldn't answer the phone. When I told him that it was ridiculous and that I am not a litigious person, but this was moving me towards it, he of course disappeared. I called the number and suddenly it "was not in service".
