We hired a contractor to build a deck. After taking $24,500 as a 50% deposit, he began, but did minimal work. Then we received multiple excuses, finally with no follow up. We found a complaint on Yelp where the same individual/contractor did the same thing to another consumer. We sent the contractor a notice of default and a demand for a "cure" of the default. He responded via text that he'd review everything "at his earliest convenience." That was six weeks ago; we've heard nothing since, which is effectively what he did to the other individual, too. We've hired an attorney, and plan to file a complaint in district court.
