Scam asking for money to send a deed to new home buyers

I was not aware of this scam until I received multiple letters asking for the same thing. Send the company (in the first case to an address somewhere in CA, this time it is "Property Records FL") a check for $127.50 in order to receive a copy of our deed.
This came days after closing on our new house and moving in, so I have not (yet) received the actual deed from the Title company.
We actually bought a house for sale by owner and did NOT involve a realtor who could have warned us of this scam.

After buying a home my realtor warned me about companies that will try to scam me out of money to pay for a copy of my Deed. They will mail me an official looking letter with directions on how to order a copy of the deed through them and send them a check. Whether they actually come through with a copy of the deed is irrelevant. It’s bottom feeder behavior, the home owner will be provided with the deed during the closing or soon after. Copies can be obtained from county court houses for a very small document fee between $5-$20 depending on your county.
