This report is against Student Marketing Agency for fraudulent services, misrepresentation, and failure to deliver contracted work. On October 29, 2024, I contracted this company to design and manage a professional website and digital strategy for a licensed counseling practice.
Over several months, I paid more than $4,000 to this agency. Despite repeated compliance with their requests, I received no deliverables, no website updates, and no visible work product.
Summary of Issues:1. Bait-and-Switch Tactics
At the beginning, the company confirmed they could work with the existing web platform. After collecting thousands of dollars, they later claimed it was “too limited” and pushed a switch to a $29/month hosting platform—one that financially benefits them. This major limitation was never disclosed beforehand.
2. No Work Performed
No changes were made to the website. No draft pages, mockups, designs, or technical work was ever shown. Despite updates stating "coding was in progress," there was no visible evidence of progress.
3. Work Held Hostage
When I asked for a payment log and questioned the lack of results, communication abruptly stopped. My project was placed “on hold” due to alleged payment issues, even though payments exceeding $4,000 had already been made. This conduct is deceptive and predatory.
4. Circular Communication
Communication was inconsistent and confusing. I dealt with multiple staff (names include Rex, Warren, Anne, and others), who repeatedly asked for the same access information or contradicted prior instructions. It became clear there was no unified process or accountability.
5. Exploitation of Trust
The agency was given full access to website credentials, analytics, and content. Despite this, no work was delivered. Their responses deflected responsibility or blamed platform limitations—limitations they should have identified before collecting any payment.
Formal Request:
I am seeking:
An investigation into this agency's practices.
Public warning to protect other small business owners.
This is not a case of dissatisfaction — it is intentional misrepresentation and financial exploitation of a service provider under the guise of professional support.
