The E-Mail said that I signed up for a service called Pro Care (NO) and about a problem with Quicken (NO). It said that they would automatically DEBIT MY ACCOUNT UNLESS I CALLED TO CANCEL IT in 1 day. Call above phone number to cancel.

The E-Mail contained a lot of spelling errors and poor grammar. It is meant to scare people, so please warn other innocent people.

A man named John Collins called me back and said he was Jacks brother and that my name came up with connection to child pronorgraphy and that I had to pay them to get this fixed.

Pro-care tries to sell internet security which is a scam In a few months they tell you that they detected your system and personal information is compromised and they need more money. After discovering the scam and telling them not to call you they just keep calling to try and get money from you.

I was on my computer this morning when suddenly an alert that my computer may have been hacked and I was instructed to contact this company I did via the computer. I was speaking with a Jake Tyler who I let have access to my computer to fix the issue. But towards the end of the conversation he stated the services would cost over $200, I immediately turn off my desktop and called the BBB.

My mom is 82 and just called me regarding a pop-up while she was on the computer. It said that Adware was detected and they could repair this for her for $499. When she tried "X"ing out of the box it warned her not to turn things off she would lose data. I told her to do it anyway, the box remained telling her that she needed to call Certified Windows 10 Support at 888-599-1312 for help.

My mom is not quite with it these days so she panicked and called me at work to ask what to do. I could not see what was going on, but told her to X out of the screens, it would not stop, so I finally told her to just shut it down. Preying on the elderly or anyone else is so wrong, but lately she gets calls of all sorts so I have asked her to let the calls go to voicemail. Of course, they hang up. This is a new one on me, but I don't know why I am surprised. We all work hard for a living and these creeps make a living from being a predator! So disheartening. Anyway, I have no idea if this is new to you too or if this is just now happening in our area.

I just need to know how to handle this matter. Have they actually gained access to her computer? I work all day so I have no idea what confidential, if any, things she has on her computer like credit card info, etc. What do I do now? I cannot handle this until I get home tonight, so not sure what I can do at this point. Please advise...
