I received a phone call from a "Mark Rodgers" on behalf of Premier Resolutions. My phone identified the number as potential spam, however, I always answer my phone because of my job. He relayed that he was trying to recover a debt which originated from a personal loan from Check N Go, and threatened that if I didn't make a payment immediately, that I would be sent out for prosecution in civil court. I asked him to verify a location, a name of the collection agency or law firm on behalf of whom he was calling. I asked him to verify a location of the court, and no matter what I asked for, he would tell me that he could not release any further information due to the confidentiality of the situation. I asked him for a notification in writing and he agreed to email me a notification. The notification landed in my SPAM email box, and upon opening, google told me it was suspicious and not to click any links or open attachments. The email address used was a mask, just like the phone numbers and the body of text was generic, and there were a few typos. Overall, it made the situation even more suspicious. Because my info had appeared in a data leak, and I had indeed received a personal loan from Check N Go, years ago, I was able to contact them to verify that my account was paid in full and closed.
