This person claimed to be Pete Murphy working with AKzoNobel. He claimed to be their hiring manager. I did an interview via Microsoft Teams text. No video chat. After the interview he messaged back saying that they would like to offer me the position and I was to begin training the next day. I completed the first day of training and "Pete" told me to be on the look out for FedEx or UPS delivering a check to be used for my office supplies needed to perform my job from home. The check never arrived and "Pete" would not disclose a tracking number. I asked him directly to explain what was going on with the check, why I couldn't have the tracking info and to explain why I found an obituary for "Pete Murphy" who did work at AKzoNobel but was now deceased. He tried to explain everything away saying it wasn't a scam but could not explain the obituary and refused to address the topic. I filled out a W4 which contained my social security number my name, my address and my signature.
