My elderly mom and I switched to Comcast back in January. We get internet, TV, and my mom's cell phone service from them.

Just a few days ago, my mom received a call saying that we can get a promotional rate of $80 a month for all those services for three years, but we would have to pay for the first eight months in a lump sum. They said we would pay for those eight months by buying $640 worth of Target gift cards from CVS, Walgreens, or Target. Then, we needed to call them and give them the numbers of those gift cards. So, I thought they were legitimate. The first day, I went to CVS to buy $640 worth of gift cards to pay them. My mom received a text message the next day saying that there was something wrong with the payment. I called them to find out what they were talking about. They told me that the payment didn't work for some odd reason. So, they told me to go to Walgreens and do the same thing, but that they would send us a check for $640 to reimburse us for the first set of gift cards that didn't work. I did exactly the same thing at Walgreens, and they said it didn't work again. So, they told us to try again one last time, and they would now send us a $1,280 check to reimburse us for two failed gift card payments. I went to Target to purchase a third set of $640 gift cards, and they said it was successful this time. But now, they told me that they can only send us a $2,000 check and not a $1,280 check. So, they told me to get $720 worth of gift cards from Target this time and read them the gift card numbers. That way, they would really owe us $2,000, and they would send us a $2,000 check in a few days to reimburse us. So, I went back to Target to get $720 worth of gift cards. Target said they can't sell that high of a dollar amount worth of gift cards to me in one day. I explained what was going on. Target told me I had fallen for a scam.

The people on the phone were pretending to be Comcast and claimed that they were partnering with Target for this promotion. Target said they never partnered with Comcast for this so-called promotion. I also asked Comcast about this. They said the same thing as Target.

Uh oh!!! They scammed us $1,920! I have reported it to our local police department. I also called the toll-free number on the gift cards to see if the gift cards can be cancelled, but the balance on all the gift cards have been redeemed.

Is there anything we can do to get our money back?

This person identified himself as Morgan from XFinity and said my contract was up. The number that came up on my caller ID was 203-223-7160. He3 gave me his call back number of 718-303-2305. He could not give me my account number. Gave me the wrong zip code, and could not give me the cell phone associated with my account. My account info with Comcast is different than what he said. Unfortunately, I cannot get in touch with anyone at Comcast to tell them about this imposter

Offered a 50% 2 year discount on Xfinity bills, if I paif doe 6 months in advance ($650), using Target gift cards. Deadline to pay was in 48 hourss, and if I didn't pay i was threatened with a $325 fine and loss of Xfinity service

American man called asking for (my name), said he was calling from Comcast. Then proceeded to ask questions about my service, specifically repeating “We noticed you don’t have equipment or any streaming services. It looks like you’re paying for services you don’t receive”.

Left a voicemail regarding my Xfinity account saying my special promotion was up and offered me another promotion in cooperation with Target. I had a choice of using a Target credit card or gift cards. I have no Target credit card. To activate the promotion I had to act on it asap. They knew my current rate of $91 and that by paying a year in advance it would be $45 and that deal would be for 3 years, otherwise it would go up to $120 a month. Gave them the gift card numbers purchased at Target and later they called me to let me know Target screwed up and that transaction was invalid and that I must go to another establishment to get gift cards to replace those. I went to Walgreens, got the cards and immediately gave the scammer those numbers. Almost immediately I realized what a mistake I had made.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Comcast. He was offering me a good deal. Unfortunately I was sucker in and he said he had my name and address. Unfortunately, he said he had my birthday which was wrong so I gave him the real date. But I should have known when he asked for my social security number and dumb me gave it to him. Now I am in trouble. Cause when I called the number back, it was disconnected. I never give out my social security number but the deal sounded too good to be true. I don’t know what to do.

Comcast /Comcast Denver; Wells Fargo informed me again this company changed their name to get into account. Don’t do any business w comcast; nor will I ever; & don’t Live in Denver. Live in ******* ** & only have ****. They illegally hacked my acct. don’t know how they got into my bill pay. Been doing this since June. Filed total of 4 fraud cases w my bank; Wells Fargo “ against comcast

The caller left a voice message to my phone and stated the following below. I have not been a comcast customer for a long time, and it is suspicious. Please check this as this could be fraud.

I received a text stating I could lower my cable bill each month, So unfortunately I called, everything Sounded exactly like Comcast Xfinity they had all the Recordings and music exactly the same. I was told I could lower my bill for the next 3 years. It would go from $300.00 a Month to $ 150.00 Sounded great all I needed to do was get $1,500.00 in gift cards from Target I did ! He also mentioned… not to mention this at Target or they will Charge me Tax ! Then he Told me he forgot to also mention I would receive a Free iPhone 14 of my color choice. Well to make a long story short came home called back gave the Gift Card Numbers , Then he had another Fabulous Deal For me. For Only $ 1,200.00 More I Could have a lifetime payment of $ 150.00 on my Cable Bill ! I was actually on my way to retrieve 3 More Gift cards & Called my Son who is a Sub Contractor for Comcast & my Son Told Mom Ur Being Scammed ! That’s How good These Guys were with the Sounds and Wording but the Best Part Was they Were able to get into My iPhone & take my Xfinity account balance which was 298.00$ & make my Balance 00.00 $ it Didn’t Stay that way I Still Had to pay the 298.00$ to Comcast, don’t know how they got in my Phone ! I’m Only writing this to Hopefully Save Someone from these Predators, I Never Reported this, I did call 911 to report them, But Because they aren’t gonna get my $$$ Back I Cslled back & Cancelled the 911 Call. but it was Definitely someone who worked for Comcast or use to ! They got $1,500.00 off me & I Hope This doesn’t happen to anyone else ! There are Thousands of these Predators out there, So many are getting Scammed its amazing how they all have a Indian Accent also ! Beware & Think Don’t Get Scammed Like I did ! A Honest Reputable Company wouldn’t have you Pay with Gift Cards !

I believe Comcast/Xfinity has security leak and scammers are calling on behalf of Xfinity to scam people with a supposed offer between Targe & Xfinity partnership where they lure the customer to buy gift cards or pay with a Target credit card for the upcoming 10 months worth the "offered discounted service" in advance in order to get the promotion of 2 years half price courtesy of Target to save on the internet bill. First they leave a VM from an AR number 501-222-4050 saying call this number to take advance of the offer that expires today, so I called to find out. When you call the fake number provided 844-203-8625 to call back they even have an advertisement that sounds exactly the same as it was from the real Xfinity company while you are on hold. While a was on the phone with the scammer he said log in to your Xfinity account and go to payments and you will see it will go down to $0 because they are going to pay for the 10 months you are paying. So they they follow in to say you need to buy the gift cards for $650.00 (I choose the gift card because I don't have a Target credit card and I didn't wanted to apply for one no I'm happy otherwise they would of send me a fake link and steal all my personal information) and call the accounting department to put them in to your account. After I fall for it, they send a text saying "there's an issue with your Xfinity payment" and I called again to find out they wanted me to buy another set of gift cards and in return because the ones I got are no longer valid (yes because they empty them out!!!) they will refund me the first set. Yeah that didn't happened. So I tried to go online and take my bank information off and stop any automatic payments I had on my xfinity account but still they managed to charge another $100.00 and they had withdrawal the "money they paid for me" Then I got another text saying I was being charged a penalty fee because obviously the "scam payment" didn't when through. Comcast doesn't have live agents to answer the phone to report this type of issues and their website and chats are hacked, I don't trust neither any more. If you leave a message to have an agent to call back, they never do and if they did the call was probably from the hacker again. Every time I tried to report this problem you could tell they hack the chat conversation because the connection drops an connects again with a different "agent". I had not responded to any more text, emails or attempted to chat again. I will leave the invoice unpaid until we get the service disconnected and look for another provided. I'm tired of being afraid to contact somebody that you don't know if its real or fake.

it was a phone call that left a message . it said hi there this call is to remind you that 50% discount offer on Comcast Xfinity account expires today in order to avail the discount please call back at 866-245-0046 from 8 am to 5pm Pacific standard time thank you and have a great day. The call came from another number which is 231-885-2980. this is the second time they called

A guy called, said he was calling about my account that had an outstanding balance. He had an old address from over 10 years ago and my last name that I haven’t used in over 6 years. He told me that I was lying and someone who was married would be taking care of their responsibilities. Called me a liar and cursed at me.

Then after I hung up, someone else called from an unblocked number from the same place with a bunch of people talking in the background sounding like a call center.

They texted my mother to say that she would get 50$ discount on Comcast Xfinity and to call the number: 855-218-0030. I called the number and quickly realized that it was spam. So I asked them why they were scamming people. the person on the other line looked up my number and my name and threatened me. Then I kept calling them because I was worried that they would come after me. I called a total of 5 times, each call lasting a total of about 30 minutes. These people need to be found and prosecuted because they have threatened me.

The scammer continutes to call both the my daughter and myself. They asked for $300 upfront and said they would reduce the xfinity comcast bill by 50%. And that we would not have to make the next two payments. The 3rd month the payment would be $1.09 or whatever was half.

They called my house number which said Comcast on my caller id. Claim to be with Comcast and had all of my mother's identifying information, so she believed them. They told her about a deal to refuce her bill, but wanted her to get a gift card worth $350. My mother did, and when trring to activate the card, they kept telling her she was giving them the wrong numbers. 3x, then they said she no longer qualified, but they got the funds off the csrd, because indeed she gave the correct numbers.

rcvd a computerized vm from comcast on my cell phone saying I can get my existing services. from $79.99 a month including taxes. I called the # on the vm and the guy (sounded like he was from India or middle east) and he said yes, I could but I would have to pay 5 months up front $79.99 and then there would be no bill and it was to be sent in 5 target gift cards. I had a hard time understanding him. He asked if I was interested. I said i couldn't understand him and why would I do that, pay 5 months ahead in 5 target gift cards. I said I was not interested in the offer. IHe did send me an email with this in writing. I did get the email. I then called comcast /Xfinity and asked if this was a legitimate promotion and they said no it was definitely a scam and would report it to the manager. here is the email detials i got.

i recvd a call from a # that I didnt know from cincinati ohio, I let it go to vmail & immed checked msg via text script.... it said "hi there this call is to remind you that 50% discount offer on comcast/Xfinity acct expires today in iirder to avail the discount please call back at 833-631-6834.... The only reason i called back is because I'm moving apts in a few days & ive been meaning to call them to switch service to new address. when you call it sounds like a legit xfinity #. an asian guy answered & he verified my service address & last digits of xfinity acct # (which i dont know & i told him i dont have info in front of me - im just returning ur call about deal) & he then verified amount of my last payment made which was last wk. He then tells me that I can get 50% off of which would bring monthly bill to $66.80 per month & discount is good for the next 3 yrs. in the meantime I tell him im moving & want to switch service. 1st he tells me to call back to do & i said no- i want to do now & immediately said ok when do you want- I said on the 6th & he said - what time? which put my guard up because they usually say ok between 9-4 or give 1st avail datet 1 week or more...he then said- ok done! i said- please send me confirmation! he quickly changed subjects & asked me if i want to do deal which i can take to new place & then informed me that in order to get 50% off I'd have to pay 5 months up front & some kind of a $300 fee.... I said no thank you - at this point I knew it was a scam- his voice changed & he then demanded an answer to WHY NOT? i said im not paying any $ up front & he got angry & voice got more demanding & sarcastic & I told him I was reporting him as a scammer & he of course hung up on me. It sounds like a legit xfinity # when you call. it has automated xfninty audio voice system & all.
