Phishing - Amazon IMPOSTER Reports & Reviews (1)

- Atlanta, GA, USA

I got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming to be calling from Amazon. He was calling to authorize a purchase on my account of $1499 for an Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch . Of course I said that wasn’t me. He said no worries. We will go ahead and take care of this. He told me the address that the item was being shipped to was 49 Arcadia Court, Albany, New York he said once he stops the transaction he will connect me with my Bank so I can let them know to void the transaction for $1499. I told him I did not need him to connect me to my Bank that I can do that on my own because I didn’t know if he really was with Amazon. He said that I could call them at 800-300-9009 and anyone there can help me. I asked him if he wanted to hold on while I called and he said no that they can help me. When I called the number a lady with an Asian accent answered the phone as reward center when I asked her what reward center was it and she just repeated reward center. I thanked her and hung up. Then I called Amazon to report it to them where they informed me that they never call customers to question them about a purchase and they also never give out their employees name and ID like the man had given me. He told me his name was Ken ID number MZ416. He also tried to get me to give my email address or for me to verify my email address on the account. He said that he had it but he could not give it to me, but if I gave it to him, he could verify it. I gave him an email address that ended with comcast.net and he said that was correct and I don’t have a comcast.net email address. He also asked if my information had been compromised like my SS number and I said no. He said that someone had opened an Amazon account in my name last week and had been used in NY, NJ, Texas and California but also said that the purchase of the Apple Laptop was purchased last night at 7:30pm and that was the only purchase since the account was opened. We’ll why or how could it have been used in five other states if this is the first time it’s being used. He did mention five states, I just couldn’t remember the fifth one. I already have a fraud alert on all of my accounts at all three credit bureaus and I keep my profile frozen so he got the wrong one today.
