Nearly lost $99 via paypal trying to buy a kayak from https://www.pelicansports.club. I raised a case with Paypal informing the scam and it got closed informing that Seller provided delivery evidence (they gave UPS tracking number). There was no way for me to find out who it was shipped to and UPS was not willing to provide due to privacy reasons. So I called their support, and told that the Tracking number refers to an item of size 12 lbs and that no Kayak would be less than 40-50 lbs. Also the site in question had vanished.

This helped me convince the Support Person and i was able to get my money refunded. This was the 1st time i got scammed but I was fortunate to have avoided losing the money.

What I thought was a sale on Pelican Sport's main website (pelicansport.com) turns out to be a fake company scam website - pelicansports.com. It's hard to spot as all they did was add an "S" at the end. They had completely cloned the real Pelican Sport website, so it looked exactly like it normally does. I noticed the scam once I looked at the email from PayPal, as it came up with a bogus seller name of "OHNNIE STORE LLC". Ironically if you look up this website on a scam checker site like URLvoid.com or Scamadviser.com, they state that the "pelicansports.com" domain was purchased 22 years ago and is highly unlikely to be a scam.

I have already opened a dispute case through PayPal, but I thought I would spread the word about this scam. I lost almost $100.
