PayPal invoice scam. I received an email telling me to call a number if I wanted to stop the payment. Doesn’t even make sense. I reported at trash and deleted the email.

I got an email from someone claiming to be with PayPal, thanking me for my recent purchase of Bitcoin for $599. the email provided a phone number for me to call if I did not make the purchase. I do not use Bitcoin or PayPal. I did not call the number, I checked with me bank instead to make sure nothing was taken out of my account.

I received a very convincing email that was supposed to look like it came from PayPal. I knew it was a scam right away but many people could be easily fooled. There were clickable links within the email that redirected the receiver to a scam website made to look exactly like the PayPal website. Below is what was in the email that I received.

i received an email with the subject line “ Paypal Security : Did you just attempt a purchase (965.35$) at the Apple Store for an iPhone 16? If you suspect unauthorized activity, contact us immediately PayPal at +1-888-511-6389 .PayPal is always committed to preventing fraudulent Charge. invited you as a developer” i opened the email, at the very top of the email it says “hi, [email protected]” it looked similar to a paypal email for a fraudulent charges but the font was really big and some sentences didn’t make since. it was a email asking if i attempted to make a purchase for an iphone 16 for $965. it also says i have an invite to from paypal security *eyeroll* when i scrolled down before the “log in to your account” button it’s say “ready to get coding? log in to your paypal account to review the invite” if i was older “im 32” i definitely would have thought it was a real email.
