A solicitation phone call was made to me as acting POA for my 99 year old aunt, a resident of an assisted living facility In Sumter. The individual who called me was identified as “Joe” on my caller identification. He informed me that Patriot Healthcare had forms that needed my signature to transfer medical services from Carolina Concierge Care to Patriot Healthcare. I was told that CCC was no longer allowed in Covenant Place. I checked with her current provider who denied that any change was required. Had I not been curious enough to research the issue, we might have been unethically required to make the change. I have registered an ethics violation complaint with the SC State Medical Board and sent Patriot Healthcare a complaint and advised them of my intended actions. This is another case of “buyer beware” and certainly not an ethical way to obtain patients. Thank you for your time.
