The scammer pretended to be an old friend that I have not talked to in several years. Contacted me via messenger over a period of days. Pretended just to say hi and ask how I was doing. Then waited two days and contacted me again telling me that she had received any thousand dollars in grant money and was looking to figure out how to invest it. And when I asked how she was able to obtain the granite she said that she thought she still had the link to contact the dispersement agent to see if I was eligible. She sent the link of course I clicked on it it was a Facebook profile and of course I was eligible. Then the “agent” asked a series of questions regarding Address, income, full name, etc. I kept going back and texting my friend to ask over and over are you sure this is legitimate? She said well I already have the money in my possession.k I Going back in texting my friend to ask ever never are you sure this is legitimate? She said yes, she already had the money in her possession. Then the agent presented me with a picture of a schedule of amounts. You could choose any amount and I chose one. Then I realized that in order to get that amount I would be required to pay 4000. I said I can’t do this this is not OK I don’t have any money. I told my friend and she said well I can help you with some of it and I said well I only have $200. Then the agent said a cashier was not available but to send the money in iTunes cards. That really made me suspicious, finally! and my “friend” said I’ll get the cards for u, u just send them. I kept telling her this could really be a big mess and I don’t want to owe her money. She said she would help me and she would be very happy for me if it worked out I told her I would bring the $200 to her house and she said no I’m far away from my house I’ll just send it out and wouldn’t give me her address. It finally occurred to me that someone could be pretending to be her. I called her and she finally answered her home number and said that she had not sent me a text through messenger. And then I was distraught I did not give financial information so I didn’t lose any money, but I gave addresses and phone numbers and I’m just sick and mad at myself.
