We answered the phone before 9 a.m. and the caller ID said it was from PHARMACY SKY. At the other end was what seemed to be a young sweet voiced Asian male with a female voice (I can't believe this person to be male). He/She claimed they were calling from Orthopedic Medical and that they were giving out free spine and leg braces.

He/She kept trying to confirm that we had back and leg pains and said he/she sees that we have been sufferers going to the Doctor. I said No. Persisting, this person said all they needed was to confirm our names and address, then they would send us the free braces. This person knew our names!

I said that we did not need any braces and if we did, we would go through our Doctor. He/She persisted in saying that they have approval from our Doctor and it was through Medicare. I told him/her that we were not interested and this person still had to persist and add that we were on a recorded line. Within the conversation he/she asked if we lived at _______ St. ___ . I said I was not going to answer that until I knew who they were and how did they get our number. I was informed we were on a recorded call again and that they had an order to get us braces for free but they needed confirmation of our address. They knew our names correctly and address. I never confirmed the address. I responded by saying we were not interested and if we did need anything like this, we would go to our Doctor for an order. He still persisted. This is when I asked him who our Doctor was. I got a response that again it is free and it is approved to send by Medicare!! This was one of 3 tip-offs for me that it was a Medicare scam. I then tried to finish off the call with, " I am sorry I am going to hang up now." By now it was the 4th time I said I was not interested.

He still persisted and I hung up. I forgot to tell him to get us off their list.

We have also received cards for free braces but we always had thrown them in recycling. Next time I receive one, I will be contacting ScamPulse.com and our Government as I will be doing next AND the Dept. Of Health & Human Services!

Caller identified himself as representing Orthopedic Medical and asked about my recent back problems, so I briefly assumed it was a legitimate call from the Kaiser orthopedic department. He offered a back brace to be covered by Medicare. I asked immediately if he represented a business, and he hung up.

They called trying to get me to accept braces for back pain or knee pain. They say it is no cost to me or Medicare. They have been calling me continuously from different phone number from all over the US. Sometimes 3, 4 or more time a day. This has been going on for almost two months. If I try to call back the number it says that I need a long distance access code.

Saturday July 6, we received a call from what appeared to be Medicare. The caller ID showed 1-442-243-5480. My husband picked up the phone and spoke to what he thought was Medicare. The other end armed with his information, his name and last name and also his health condition. The said they would send knee brace and back brace to him and spoke as if his doctor as approved then asked to verify the last 4 digit. My husband unconsciously gave away. I was unable to stop him on time. I then asked to speak with the other end. I requested their name (either Alice or Alex) business name (Orthopedic Medical) but on the id showed as Medicare. Her/his direct phone given to me was 6465189230. She spoke as if her nose squeezed to disguise real voice, that was how I felt like (nose squeezing). After knowing what is what, I realized my husband was scammed into giving them his last 4 digit SSN. Those numbers are bogus and they are not Medicare.

Caller said I was eligible for a back brace, to be covered "free of charge" by Medicare. I do have considerable back pain, but caller couldn't explain how he knew, or what his company actually was. Or why the caller ID screen on my phone read Medicare. Caller asked for my doctor's name and location (gave the name but was vague about the location) and when he wanted my Medicare number, I hung up.

Received phone call and they offered me a back brace and a knee brace and medicare would cover it. Foreign accent, difficult to understand - I did have back surgery and may be having knee surgery in the future. I contacted Medicare and MVP also and my orthopedist's office and they have not released my information and are not aware of medicare doing this or these offers.
