An Auto was listed on Facebook Marketplace for $1200, it was a 2003 Land Rover. I messaged the person that I was interested. He responded that he put the listing up for his aunt, and I should contact her email to follow-up with any questions. I contacted the aunt, Sara Clark, [email protected]. She gave me a message that she wanted to get rid of the car because it was her son that recently died, and that she was going overseas on military duty in 10 days' time. I responded that I would buy the car for the asking price and asked for the address to make the exchange. Sara Clark answered with an E-Bay motors invoice, stating I should purchase 6- $200 E-Bay gift cards and then reply to the invoice with the numbers on the back of the gift cards. I went to the store to buy the gift cards. It was then that I realized this might be a scam, because on the back of E-bay gift card it clearly says not to make transactions this way. So, I went back home and looked up HELP at E-bay. They clearly state they do not sell cars this way. Now I was convinced this was a scam. I checked back on marketplace and the car was de-listed, I looked at E-bay motors and the car was not on E-bay motors. So, I replayed to clarks387@gmail that I needed more information, she replied that she was a Christian and would never cheat anyone and assured me the transaction was legit. I responded that I would pay cash and pick the car up myself, and that I would not send gift card codes. At that point all emails contact was gone. I truly believe I was almost scammed.

A person identified as Donna R. Nealon listed a car for sale on bestcarfinder.com. I agreed to buy it. She asked for a $1000 deposit via a Visa OneVanilla prepaid debit card. I called eBay for instructions, they informed me that this was a scam. They don't do business like this. I immediately canceled two Visa OneVanilla prepaid debit cards for $1000.

Beware if you get a text message from this phone number if you are selling a vehicle. Texter will have broken English in texts and eventually ask you to pull a report from some obscure website on your vehicle that you will need to pay money for because the Texter does not trust reports from other report providers such as CarFax or AutoCheck. Looks like the Texter may be trying to drive business to the obscure website and/or have obscure website get your credit card info for some other suspicious reasons. I did not fall for it. The text I received was along these lines - "Are you able to send me the DHR report by text? My mechanic said you can just pull up the details and share it with us so we can confirm. Just google digitalhistoryrecords.com to pull it up."

I have a Truck for sale, and the scammer contacted me via text message. They explained that the were interested in purchasing my truck and would like to set an appt to come test drive it. They asked a few questions as to condition, mileage ,location, and asked if I was available this coming weekend. The next text stated that they needed a VRO Report before they could come. I questioned a VRO Report and they sent a website (titlerecordsonline.com) for me to enter the vin# of my truck.

I then called the number and it just kept ringing, like a computer generated#. I informed they that their # was being reported.
