- Washington, DC, USA

I am a four time author, and my most book about my family as one of the oldest Black families in North America, since the 1670s, has caught national attention from at least 100 inquiries from "supposed" would be literary agents or persons representing to be from potential book buyers or movie connected personnel. Proisle publishing contacted me in July 2022 and made seemingly honest and professional representations as to their track record of success, and history of publishing books for thier clients. Each potentially involved step towards full market access was not explained in detail, but as time passed, I agreed to the multi-step promotion process and signed several incremental agreements for specific services, ultimately totaling $8,800.00, as follows: 1) 7-14-22 - General Service Agreement, a global agreement that would lead to additional agreements for specific services; 2) 7-15-22 - Second Agreement, $1,800.00, for three bookstore placements at $600.00 each - I have no confirmed record of such placement taking place; 3) 8-2-22, Third Agreement, $1,500.00, incidental cost to restructure and then republish my book, which had already been published by another publisher in a perfectly valid format; 4) 8-10-22, Fourth Agreement, $500.00, "supplemental fee" to also offer a hard cover version, beyond their planned soft cover version; 5) 9-1-22, Fifth Agreement, $1,000.00, to create a market and website platform, the nature of which program or site might not have been implemented, as I gained no business or inquires from said alleged creation; 6) 9-16-22, Sixth Agreement, $500.00, to create a Kindle version of the book, which might not have been created, since I have never received any royalties; 7) 10-3-22, Seventh Agreement, $1,000.00, to electronically present and promote the book to at least 12 national and international resources, i.e.., bookstores, book resellers, libraries, etc., but have no documented results of such efforts having been undertaken; 8) 11-21-22, Eighth Agreement, $1,000.00, crating artwork for promotional flyers, business cards, and a sign, but there were no events ever provided at which these materials might be incorporated into book promotion; 9) Ninth Agreement, $1,500.00, for a 22-minute television interview with Logan Crawford on Spotlight Network, but I do not know whether, when, if, or how this promotional tool was used; 10) Tenth - the person who identified himself as Nathaniel Smith repeatedly asked me to enter another General Service Agreement for another of my books. but I declined, as I was not pleased with the progress then to date on my initial book agreements with Proisle. COMPLAINT: My inquiries with other parties indicate that the book is selling reasonably well, but Proisle has not given me any credible book sales reports or paid me any royalties to date, which I feel is evidence of fraud and theft. While I can still submit orders for my book through their finance office, none of my many, many phone calls to the person who calls himself "Nathan Smith" and is lasted as my "Senior Marketing Manager" have been returned. I request a full refund of my $8,800.00 and the return of all of my materials and file that is still in possession of Proisle Publishing.
