<p>**BBB suggests that you place a FREEZE on your Social Security number to protect yourself from invalid accounts being opened in your name. You freeze your number through each of the reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. This can be done online. Then, should you need to apply for a loan yourself, or anything that would require your number to be checked, you can go into each agency and UNFREEZE your Social Security number. </p>
