I was recently unemployed and in need of new health insurance. In the process of examining my options, I had entered a website bearing the address "obamacare-plans.com". I was only seeking information on rates, but while on the site, I was tricked into accidently requesting enrollment. Almost immediately my home was bombarded with telephone calls from the "health enrollment center". At first I resisted the calls, but during the mid-morning hours of Friday, December 22, when an agent who identified himself as "Isaiah" promised to bring an end to the volley of calls, I was regrettably persuaded to enroll. When he asked for my credit card information, I foolishly provided it. Furthermore, when I repeatedly asked him which company would be handling the policy, he kept dodging the question and finally blurted out "Aetna" only when I became insistent. The volume of calls did decrease after that, but I would still receive at least two or three each day. My suspicions about the "health enrollment center" were aroused by the lack of professionalism in one of these later calls, and, after some research, learned that I had likely been scammed. I immediately canceled my credit card and took other protective measures as well.

This particular website and the "health enrollment center" appears to have been problematic for a long time. Numerous people unfortunate enough to have encountered it have experienced the same things I had -- the avalanche of phone calls, being tricked into requesting enrollment, and the aggressive and manipulative sales tactics. In my case, one other agent named "Mary" tried to make me feel as if obamacare-plans.com was my one and only option if I wanted health coverage for 2024. Still another agent, "Brian", had told me that a certain legitimate state program which offered discounted health insurance plans only applied to those unemployed for six months or more. There is nothing whatsoever to substantiate that claim; this was a flat lie.

I have provided a California address for obamacare-plans.com, but there is evidence to suggest that it has ties in Texas and Florida as well. Regardless, obamacare-plans.com and the "health enrollment center" needs to be put out of business. NOW.
