I applied for a I applied for a job on Indeed. A few days later, I received an email from Angie Wilson, Hiring Team, saying I had the job for the data entry clerk position with MorningStar Marinas. It said that I should contact a Mrs. ******** S***** on Signal Messenger at 1-681-208-9410 for inquiries and to schedule an interview. I downloaded the Signal Messenger app on my mobile phone and my personal computer and started a chat with S********* on Jan. 3, 2025. She messaged me back on Jan. 3, 2025, with instructions to give my full name, email and the position I applied for. I got a link to a document to take a test and had 30 minutes to do the form. It asked simple questions like what is petty cash reimbursements, disbursements, etc. I was then given a brief background of the company, the pay rate, info about the training ad that there would be a background check and identity verification. On Jan. 7, 2025, I was told I had been chosen to fill the position. And that I would be receiving an email with paperwork to submit it and a clear copy of a government-issued identity card. I then received the email with the documents from B *** Y*****, SR VP of Marina Operations, MorningStar Marinas. The documents were: Offer of Employment, Employee without Certificate (W-4 form), Employment Eligibility Verification worksheet and a Direct Deposit Authorization. I filled all the paperwork out and sent them back on Jan. 8, 2025. I then received a chat message from my hiring manager, [censored]S*****, that they had received my paperwork. She proceeded to tell me that I would get a sign on bonus and a check for $2480.00 for office equipment that I would need to be able to work from home. Also, on Jan. 8, 2025 S******** advised that an agent would be assigned to me for equipment procurement and training on using the company software and computers. I will be monitored closely to use disbursed funds for the assigned purposes. he then told me for faster processing, an e-check would be issued, and an agent would be assigned to me to handle the purchase and if I was familiar with mobile deposits. I told her that I was familiar with mobile deposits. On Jan. 9, 2025, I chat messaged S******* [censored]again let her know my bank placed a 7 day hold on the funds and to see where we were at. On Jan. 10, 2025 S******** [censored]informed me that I was paired with another agent, J******* R********, Inventory/supply H, phone +1 763-620-5898 as she would be my handler via the Signal App. On Monday, Jan. 11th I messaged S******** S***** regarding the hold on the E-check deposit advising funds would not be available until morning of 1.18.25. On Jan. 10, 2025 I chatted with J******* R***** concerning the process initiation. She asked a couple of questions and then we discussed equipment needed and the software to be used. I was asked to download and set up CashApp on my cell phone. I received instructions to add to the cashapp the amount of $2380. Apparently since the E-check had not cleared yet, Jennifer told me to try adding $1000 to the cashapp, then try to add another $1000 to the cashapp. The first $1000 worked, the second $1000 would not go as the bank said not enough money in the account. J******* then said try $500 to the cashapp. The $500 worked and that put my account in the negative $375. J******** said it would all balance out when the E-check cleared. J******* then confirmed the $1500 in the cashapp and we proceeded. Jennifer then asked if I saw a button that says buy bitcoin and said select buy and complete buy for the amount added to balance ($1500). J******* then gave me lightening wallet addresses for the transactions. We closed off for the day and was to continue on Jan. 11, 2025. Did not continue. On Jan. 13, 2025 I sent a chat to J********* to advise I would not be available from 1:45 pm until after 4:00 pm for training as it was to begin on Jan. 13th and continue for one week. I did not receive any response from her or [censored][censored]from that date on. I did attempt to check in with both persons on Jan. 14th and did not hear from anyone.
