A man claiming the name of Terrance ***** knocked on my door on Saturday, March 27th, 2021.

It was very early, and I was half asleep.

This man immediately asked me what my gas numbers on my meter looked like price wise. I said I don’t know. He said “show me your bill”.

I was confused and the way he presented this was almost as if he worked for NIPSCO, which is who I originally used.

He had me sign and initial a bunch of stuff online. He had a woman with a very thick accent call my phone to confirm my agreement.

I feel at fault for being so vulnerable, and going with it. I regretted it immediately once I woke up completely, and realized I had been scammed.

“Terrance” gave me a customer service hotline. I called it an hour after the incident, and they said they “could not take my call right now”.

I threatened to pursue legal action if they didn’t cancel this. No response after.

Please help me.

Yesterday Emily Newman with Nordic Energy came to my door asking to see my Semco energy bill. She said she was with NORDIC Energy and said she could get me my natural gas at a lower rate per therm than I currently get. I asked a bunch of questions which she answered well and signed the paper. Today I called Semco energy because something didn't feel right. While I was on the phone with Semco the lady explained that customer choice is real although she was not familiar with Nordic Energy. I looked at the contract after the Semco representative explained some things and realized after the first 3 months of the lower rate, the rate almost doubles! I have already called and cancelled, but I am upset with myself for falling for this and want others to not be duped by Nordic energy!

So this lady comes around our neighborhood claiming since we have a new digital meter (which the electric company installed for everyone) she wants to want sure that our electric energy bill is correct. Her employee badge is tucked away in her jacket so you can see her face but not the name of her employer. She asks for my bill and then tells me she wants to be sure that Nordic is my energy supplier. Fortunately, I knew a lot about the way our city, Bloomington, aggregates energy and that just a week earlier I received the new contract for our new supplier (which was NOT Nordic). I said I'd find the letter, she said it wasn't important but insisted. I found the letter and showed it to her. At this point I figured out that she was actually a Nordic employee trying to trick me into switching my supplier. She said something like "oh, a 2 year contract is a bad thing". I asked her point blank if she was a sales person for Nordic and she said "I'm just her to check .....". At that point I opened the door and asked her to leave. I live in the poor section of town. I'm sure my neighbors don't understand the electric aggregation policy and were getting taken advantage of by Nordic. It is shameful to take advantage of my neighbors!
