I have a mortgage with Newrez. I've received multiple mailings in which they stated that they will charge me a significant amount to cover home insurance coverage. Each time, I contacted both Newrez and my insurance provider and each time I was assured that it was resolved. However, I would soon get another notice from Newrez with a different insurance date range and amount. This cycle continued.
It seems to me that Newrez is trying to collect additional founds from me using a false claim that I did not have home insurance. Even after they were supplied documentation that I did have insurance coverage and they had conversations with my insurance company.
Seems to me that Newrez is working a scam. The scam is they just create false clams that I don't have home insurance coverage. Then try to charge me a significantly more expensive amount for insurance then I currently pay. They keep doing this hoping that I'll just give in and make the payment or not respond in time so they can just charge me.

Informed that our mortgage was purchased by NewRez, a debt collection agency.
We pay several additional funds above the mortgage due so it can go toward the principal.
In each new statement the amount indicated due next month is the amount paid above and beyond the original payment.New Rez reports the amount due, is what we paid, which is above our mortgage payment agreement.
Most recently we received an inaccurate record of a payment not made 3/1/2921 when in fact the payment was made and received by New Rez on 2/26/2021. It is recorded as “payment to principal” for a reason that baffles us.
The original payment for our mortgage for example, is 1200. We pay 1400. New Rez apples it to principal and then informs us we owe a fee and past interest due.
We are in our retired years and fear New Rez may be scamming other people with inaccurate information. People who are not savvy about the internet or capable of understanding inaccurate statements!
Their website is sketchy and difficult to find information you are seeking.
Be very cautious about the navigation. It tends to “move” while on the screen and makes it very difficult to enter a question when in need of assistance.
We are seeking a reputable mortgage company to refinance our home and hope it does not cost out of pocket to acquire a move to a reputable company.
Thank you of any help you can provide.
Why would a mortgage company advertise they are a “debt collection” agency!
Pretty sketchy, indeed.
