I replied to an ad in a FB group for a remote position at $35 an hour. I direct messaged the person who posted the message. He then sent me an assigned email address and a code to enter in through Google chat for an interview. The interviewer asked me very typical interview questions. He was listed as an interview manager for a company called Navantia. The interview was an hr long. Towards the end of the interview he started asking me questions that were a bit alarming. Such as, would you prefer direct deposit or credit card for your pay? (Seemed premature)I responded by saying I prefer direct deposit but would not provide my banking information without proper validation. At this point alarms going off. I was then asked if I had credit card debt that I wanted to pay off. I responded yes because, let’s be real, who doesn’t? Alarms were really going off at this point because what kind of interview question is that. After being titled “qualified for the position” and given an interview score of 92%, they wanted my basic info that can be found easily in public records. However, they also wanted front and back copies of my license and social security card. I insisted that I could not provide that without solid, and professional validation. He continued to say that I had to trust them first before they could trust me. I exclaimed that “Any company of your stature could surely provide some sort of secure validation to receive such personal information”. He repeated himself about trusting. At that point I reported it to Google Chat. I also went back to the guy who posted the ad on the FB group and reported him. I messaged him letting him know I did so. He messaged me back sounding clueless and wanted to know what happened. He was referred to post these help wanted ads by a friend who supposedly works for the company and was apologetic. Who knows if he and his friend were scam victims too or not. Not chancing it; and hate that people are taking advantage of those who want to work for a living.

I applied to many remote jobs that were listed online. I received an email stating that my resume was received and I needed to download the Signal App then provide the invitation number. I had to use the phone number given to call/text the person - Gwen Stoller on the app. Once I did that I was told the information of the company, that they received my resume and I seem a good fit for the remote position. They told me that my interview would begin by answering questions. They gave information about the company code of conduct and what the benefits would be. They asked for my full name, address, cell phone number, age, email address, cell phone carrier, who i bank with and to provide a photo of yourself. They then had me wait 15 minutes before deciding if I was hired for the position. They told me that I will be receiving computer equipment, an IPhone Pro 13, laser printer, laminator, shredder, and software. They had said that funds would be sent to me to purchase what I needed for my mini home office. They also said that they will have their vendor come to my home to install everything and that every three months they would make a visit to inspect the equipment to make sure it is taken care of and not damaged. They said that I will be contacted by my supervisor to begin training at $20 per hour and after training it would be $35 per hour for my data entry position. I did give them all the information above including my photo. I checked my email and it was not from the company mentioned. It was a Gmail account that was used. I then searched the internet and found the company but it wasn’t in the United States so I contacted them on their website, via Facebook Messenger and I even viewed their careers which none were listed for remote positions in the United States. Navantia did respond to my message and they did say that it was a scam.
