DON’T BE FOOLED - THIS LETTER HAS A NATIONWIDE INSURANCE LOGO AND APPLE LOGOS!! First, I started receiving texts from 323-765-5637. I did not respond to the texts until today. I responded this is a scam. Next FEDEX express package arrived with a cashiers check for $2490 along with a letter containing instructions to evaluate an Apple store by purchasing gift cards to improve employee lack of knowledge about ringing up gift cards, etc. Salary after card purchases $240.

Received “check” for $2490 from Bank ***, P.O. Box ***, ***, ***, ** *** 11/5/17, made out to my husband for $2250 Apple Store gift cards, for a salary of $240, and under no circumstances to acknowledge you are evaluating their services or would defeat the purpose of the program and to answer NO if you are asked if you are a security shopper. We have not cashed this and will not.

I filled out a survey through survey monkey that seemed like a prescreener for secret shoppers. A few days later, I received a text and an email telling me that I'd been selected to be a secret shopper and to await information in the mail. I received a letter and a "cashier's check" for $2950 via USPS Priority Mail with instructions to buy two gift cards at an apple store. One for $1,500 and one for $1,200 and to keep $250 for myself, then send the gift cards to them and report back on my experience.

It didn't seem right, so I googled it and found this article: http://www.nbc12.com/story/37113691/man-targeted-by-walmart-secret-shopper-scam-...

I received a priority mail envelope containing a check for $2950 and a letter telling me I would be paid out of this money $250 to do a survery at a local Apple store. The remainder of the money was to be in gift cards at an Apple store for $1500 and $1200. They said to never tell the sales clerk that you are evaluating their services or when asked if you are a mystery shopper to say NO. As soon as I would deposit the check, I was to call or text a number so funds would be make available. This is a total scam and anyone who receives this, do not deposit the check but contact the BBB.
