National Police support fund Reports & Reviews (13)

- Spokane, WA, USA • Apr 20, 2023

I have received numerous calls from the National Police Support Fund the last 3-4 years asking for a donation for police, I have never donated. It is always the same caller (I recognize the voice) and always refer to me by my first name. They read a script (always the same) start out by saying "you are the first person I have talked to in 15 minutes" and go on from there following their script. I am not nice when I talk to them, I ask them how much money they take for every dollar donated, the pat answer is 80%, they have to pay for fund raising expenses. When quizzed if they are professional fund raisers the answer is always "YES". When I have tried to interrupt and ask where they are calling from and where the charity is located and how much they take for every dollar donated, often times they go back to reading their script, then I try to interrup again for information where the call center is located, was told in Lavonia, MI and the fund headquarters is in Alexandri, VA. I have called them professional scammers and when I'm not cooperative they hang up. I have no problem harassing these "professional scammers" They always spoof phone numbers, mostly from small towns that are up to 200 miles from where I live and always in my area code. I asked one caller if he knew where he was calling from, he couldn't answer and when confronted with the name of the town he didn't even know where it was or acknowledge phone spoofing. I filed two complaints with the FCC for them spoofing phone numbers. I have gotten into the habit of not answering phone calls from small towns. I have answered three recently because I knew who was calling and had to tell them I knew they were a scam. I did read the ScamPulse.com report from July 2018 about the National Police Support Fund (very interesting) and what a bunch of scammers they are. The Headquarters for the Fund is just a PO Box # in Virginia, they are not a legitimate charity!!

This person who called intimidated Mom into pledging money and pretended to be a charity, which they are not. They do not have a phone number for contacting on their website or mailers. He wanted a $500 donation over the phone by credit card and my Mom offered a $30 donation by cheque so they sent a mailer.

I received a bill from this organization asking me to pay a pledge I had made. I NEVER made such a pledge. I looked these people up on the internet and they are a political organization, not a police support fund, as they claim. Billing elderly people for pledges they never made is a scam.

These are the people you need to call direcly to complain and get off the mailing list. After I called each of them I had ALL of my phone numbers removed for myself and family and stopped the calls.

the individual on the phone had no idea what the organization did and simply repeated the script. in response to my question about details of what the organization did, he transferred me to a 'supervisor' who simply repeated the script as well. additionally, the background noise just sounded off to me. it sounded like a two person call operation (not exactly sure what I mean by that other than it seemed like the initial caller just muted the call and handed the phone to the female 'supervisor'.

On 10/29/20 a man called to get pledges for national police support fund. He gave a range of donations to be made . Eagerly he asked if I was comfortable with that amount. I said I do not donate over the phone, he said I did not need to they would mail me a pledge kit. he transferred me to check my address. This person spoke broken english and told me to donate using credit card. I said no i was told I would be sent a pledge form. She verified my information and repeatedly asked me to promise to mail it back as soon as I received it. On 11/4 another local call came it was the same man! I started rifling through my mail as he gave me the same exact spiel this time saying he represented United Police support fund. I again was transferred to another person who wanted my credit card info and stated due to covid they wanted to decrease handling and credit cards was the best way to donate.

He said he wanted a contribution for the police department and man and women who are fighting to protect us. I told him I did not have any money to donate at the moment. He was super pushy trying to get me to donate for 75,95, 105 dollars. After I rejected he offered some booster donations of 15,25, 35 dollars to Goodwill or other organizations. I asked for the number so I could call back after I made my decision and he gave me the 1-866 number and said to call with any questions and thanked me for my time. The robot voice saying the call would be recorded for record purposes sounded so real but it was just him.

Getting 3 to 5 calls a day from 315-410-0874 phone number. The recording says it is "Kenneth Allen from the National Police Support Fund" and they are asking for donations. I have asked 5 times to be removed from their call list, but they are still constantly calling, at this point it is harassment and it needs to STOP!

Multiple attempted calls from one number. Once it was blocked through my service provider, an additional phone number began to call my home multiple times a day. Asking for donations to the “National Police Support Fund. Unable to verify the federal tax ID, redirected to a toll-free number. Stated that donations were not tax-deductible. Continuously redirected to the toll free number provided which “cut out” each time it was listed.

I got a call from them saying it was the time of year to start up the donation drive, and the phone operator tries his best to kay in with a guilt trip to get you to "donate." I confronted him that if they were legit, why it was that they are labeled as a scam operation.

He of course provided a non-reassuring answer with no defence when the jig was up, and ended the call.

I received a phone call asking me to donate to National Police Support Fund I was going to give them my debit card number over the phone but changed my mind at the last moment.

I did not feel comfortable giving the information over the phone . I asked them to mail me a bill instead and they did , I called the phone number on the letter and did not get a respond so I decided to go to their website . I came across ScamPulse.com warning people about donating to the NPSF .

I’ve become suspicious after reading what they had to say . So I would like to say just beware of scammers , I’ve copied the letter I received so in hopes that people will know not to donate unless you are 109% sure it not a scam.

On 12/30/2018, I received a call from (862) 333-2411 from a man with a deep voice and a southern accent, who identified himself as Dan, if I would like to make a donation to the National Police Trust Fund. I told him that there is no such thing as a National Police Trust Fund. He paused for a few seconds and said "okay, bye" and hung up the phone.

I was contacted in Wilton, CT by representatives of the National Police Support Fund. I should have been more aware that it sounded fishy and of course just saw the ScamPulse.com warning. Just want you notified that they are calling on area code 203 #'s in CT now. Please let me know if there are any actions ScamPulse.com suggests I take other than ignore any future requests. I did satisfy my rather small donation at their website - https://nationalpolicesupportfund.com . If it is a scam they are awfully convincing on the phone but are also rather forceful.

with regards,

Sean L.
