FUN ALERT

If you are shooting a lot of digital photos with your smartphone [and who isn’t?] Photo Gallery has everything you need to organize, edit, and publish your photos—free! Sorting your photos has never been easier with the jewel of the Windows Live collection, Windows Live Photo Gallery—but try the little known panorama creator, which is one of the best in the world. Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/essentials for your free software.

CLUTTEROLOGY TIP

Words we need in our vocabulary, but do not yet exist:

Orgaversion \?rg-?-v?r’-zh?n\ n: the tendency to avoid getting organized

Do you have a wallet full of credit cards—that you use. There are now all-in-one smart cards. They use your smartphone to put your American Express, Visa, MasterCard and that other Visa card. Depending on the card, anything with a magnetic strip: gift cards, debit card, membership cards, reward cards. At the store, you select the card you want to use. We have had Coin for the past few months. Checking out has slowed down because people are interested in it and have never seen it before. These companies include: Coin, Pastc, Stratos, and Swyp. There is a cost to purchase the all-in-one card. For a demonstration, click here https://onlycoin.com/?referral=LMKUIV2f

CONSULTING TIP

Not all consulting efforts are conducted in your office or the client’s. Research a few good places for “off-site meetings” to get them away from the distractions of their daily business. You need to make it both convenient and effective for your clients when you hold meetings and especially when you hold conferences or workshops, like team events and dinners for your clients.

DONATE UNUSED ITEMS

Do you have an old computer that still works but you’re not using? Here’s a chance to give it a new home where will do a lot of good. The Los Angeles Opportunities Industrialization Centers (OIC) has a program where they refurbish computers and provide them to low income families. They are looking for computers, flat screen monitors, keyboards and mice. They are a Microsoft recertifier and will reformat the hard drives and supply Windows 7 and Office 2010. Please contact Chris L. Floyd, the Executive Director of the Los Angeles OIC; 3701 Stocker St. #204, Los Angeles, CA 90008. Call 323-754-3116 for details about how to donate your old computers.

E-COMMERCE TIP

If you don’t have a smartphone, get one and learn how to use it especially the speech recognition capabilities. Remember that a smartphone is a handheld computer with a phone app so its capabilities are very much like a laptop computer. Successful e-commerce demands a rapid response to client inquiries and with more people using their smartphones for everything from e-mail to video conferencing; you need to keep up with the latest technology so that you can be instantly responsive to your client’s needs.

E-PUBLISHING TIP

A past student of ours and described by one reviewer as “John Grisham with a sister’s twist,” Pamela is an award-winning author of six legal thrillers. She is sponsoring, Self-Publishing Made Easy: Everything You Need to Know to Create Your Print, eBook and Audiobook

In this one-day, information-packed workshop, award-winning self-published author Pamela Samuels Young will share her writing process, including the timesavers she used to write multiple legal thrillers and one non-fiction book, all while practicing law full-time. The workshop will also walk you through the process of turning your completed manuscript into a book, e-book and audiobook. Most importantly, you will leave the workshop with a copy of Pamela's personal self-publishing contacts and writing resources, as well as templates that will make writing and publishing your own book a breeze.

HOME BASED TIP

The ScamPulse.com has a new database called Scam Tracker (https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us/). It is free to use. Can be searched by name of scam or type of scam [Employment: Work at Home]. This looks very useful.

INVENTION TIP

If you need a prototype made, do a Google search for 3D printing services. Now that Polaroid has released its own 3D printer for about $2,000 including the software, many companies are now offering low cost services to new product innovators. Based on current cost estimates, you should be able to have something the size and shape of a waffle made for 35 cents after the initial set up costs. For more info about the Polaroid 3D system go to www.gizmag.com/polaroid-modelsmart-250s-3d-printer/41223.

If you are uncomfortable providing social and account, call 888-868-8618 x 711 (they will still need the information).

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER TIP

Would you like to accept credit cards on your website or in person? People tend to spend more using a credit card. One of the simplest is SquareUp. Using your smartphone, you can swipe a client’s credit card. SquareUp deposits the funds into your bank account in about two days. No transferring funds like PayPal. For more information, click here https://squareup.com/i/091EE33D
