These scammers are placing housing ads on Craigslist and then claiming they are sending you a link for a background check but the link is for a monthly subscription to a credit check service. They are preying on desperate people.

They had a Craigslist add on an apartment and we texted about meeting and then after setting a time they asked to do credit checks and that I needed to have a co-signer and need to have a family member do the same site and they did then they said they needed another. I told them we would do another one after seeing the apartment but they kept pushing for now and when asked for pictures of inside the unit they sent pictures of the inside of a house clearly not an upstairs apartment and they even had the website and house address in the picture which was not the apartments address they were claiming to be renting out.

Received an email about TrueIdentity changing to TransUnion and that I needed to login and update site address. Tried this and login did not work so called number on email. Person asked me for last name, last 4 of social security and my email and phone number. Looked for awhile and then asked me to spell last name and then asked for FULL Social Security number. I told them that was not ok and said I would be reporting them and he said "ok, do it".

I hope this was just a misunderstanding and a bad "employee" but wanted to report this. If you find any reliability in this I would love to know to feel better. Thank you, *****
