Shane Victor Burke aka K&K Construction Inc aka Shane Burke Design aka Longhorn Construction Company reached out to me via a Fix & Flip Colorado Facebook group to bid on a job related to new stairs and railings for a deck, patch siding, and replace roof shingles. We spoke at length about the job in person at my property. He emailed me an estimate for the work and I accepted. He then began demo work and asked that I pay him 50% up front and 50% upon job completion. The upfront payment was to begin work and purchase materials for the job. I paid him and he cashed the check. Throughout the estimate process he said the job would take a 2-4 days to complete. After cashing the check, he continued demo work on and off for several days throughout 3 weeks. I contacted him via text messages and phone calls. He was slow to respond and provided excuses for delayed start and promised that work would be completed "by end of the week". He also said "my guys are at the shop working on it" and "my guys will be stopping by with the materials for the deck" and "I'll send one of my guys to work on it this week". None of his guys showed up and no materials for my deck were delivered. He then asked me to sign another estimate for concrete that needed to be poured for a solid foundation for the deck landing. By this time, three weeks passed and it was clear he wasn't planning on performing the work. He was stringing me along. I told him I wouldn't sign any additional estimate and asked for a refund of my upfront payment, less $300 for the demolition work he did. I never heard from him again despite text messages, calls, and email. Upon further research, I discovered similar stories from other victims wherein Shane takes upfront payment but does not perform the work and does not provide refund. I connected with several other victims and learned they've won small claims cases and litigation against him but cannot collect because he does not own assets. He goes by multiple names, Shane Burke Design, K&K Construction, and Longhorn Construction. There may be other companies as well. Please be aware that the yelp, BBB, and google reviews are real stories and do not engage with him.
