I was given a job offer for a remote position, had interviews, they then sent me a check to purchase my equipment as it was a remote offer and the amount was higher than they stated, I confirmed if it was correct before depositing as I didn’t need much equipment only the software they mentioned and once I deposited the check they insisted I buy gift cards in order to purchase the equipment which did not make sense and I called my bank to cancel the deposit as it was still pending but it was too late. The bank will now have to mark it as a fraudulent check on my account. This person has been harassing me since threatening to send the FBI which is not really going to happen but they might get others to send the money with these threats. All communication was through email and phone through an app called signal which they said they use for trainings.
