Sam Leath, alias Thomas Jenkins of Bentley Consulting, runs craigslist ads in many states across the country, purporting to have a proprietary lead generation system for the auto industry. His business location is listed as 1467 Heritage Ln Encinitas, CA 92024, which is actually a sprawling $3 million home with an ocean view. Contact Phone & Email are: 760-681-2000 [email protected]

Mr Leath falsely claims there are people using his system who work 4 to 8 hours per day making $8,000 to $20,000 per month. This could not be further from the truth. He states that all one has to do is send his pre-drafted email to 200 dealerships per day, and your phone will be ringing / email blowing up with interested Auto dealers. Sending 200 emails takes many hours because you first have to search for the dealerships, and then you have to go to each dealer's website, find the sales manager's email (often times only a web form), and send the message. The process is painstaking & very time consuming, contrary to how Sam Leath describes it.

I think one of the reasons the response rate is extremely low, essentially nil, is because unlike Mr Leath's claim that his cap is a total of 100 reps nationwide utilizing his system, he has continually run ads nationwide for at least 2 years that I know of. When I foolishly took the bait and spent $695 a couple of years ago, Mr Leath said he was very close to hitting his cap of 100 reps nationwide. That is a 100% false claim by Sam Leath aka Thomas Jenkins. He said he wanted to cap his reps at 100 so as to not saturate the market. By now I would estimate several hundred people have taken the bait like I did, and many still are, based on Mr. Leath's many ads currently on Craigslist across the country.

Craigslist has been made well aware of Sam Leath's / Bentley Consulting's misrepresentations to people seeking work via craigslist ads. It appears Craigslist is more interested in revenues generated from Mr Leath's paid ads across the country, than they are the welfare of people looking for legitimate work on craigslist.

I find it extremely hypocritical of Craigslist to continue allowing Mr Leath to run his highly questionable and possibly illegal ads, when Craigslist acts like they place a high priority on protecting visitors from scam ads. One thing is for sure; In order for Mr Leath's so called proprietary lead generation system to work, it requires reps to pay Craigslist for ads that are fake. In order to dodge Craigslist rules of not posting the same ad in many areas of the same category, Mr. Leath instructs reps to have multiple phone numbers, and he provides a few different canned ads.

You first have to pay him before he tells you anything. After you pay and find out that it's Craigslist you're going to be doing your marketing on, you need to establish multiple accounts and spend additional money on ads right out of the gate, right after you drop $695 to Mr. Sam Leath. The training really isn't training at all. You do one zoom call with him and he blows a bunch of smoke. That's it.

It's quite disappointing that Craigslist, at this writing, is still allowing Mr. Leath to run his ads, but it appears their greed outweighs the welfare of job seekers. I would estimate Mr. Leath spends at least $5,000 to $10,000 per month on Craigslist ads. Then you take into consideration the many thousands of dollars per month that gullible people across the country, who anti up $695 to Sam Leath, are spending for fake Craigslist ads. Craigslist execs should be ashamed of themselves for knowingly allowing this individual to continue with his scam on their platform. SHAME ON CRAIGSLIST.

I am contacting in regards to a scam that I recently fell victim to on Craigslist:
https://asheville.craigslist.org/sls/d/asheville-life-sucks-when-youre-broke/779... /> This is the listing which I replied to and there are dozens of idental ads listed on Craigslist jobs throughout different locations in the USA. The author(Thomas Jenkins) claims to offer a training program to utilize a legitimate agency to harvest auto leads from the internet, but upon paying for the seminar($695/895 for a group or individual session), it was revealed that the method of obtaining these leads is to create and use multiple email addresses and phone numbers to post fraudulent advertisements for "hypothetical" automobiles on Craigslist, and simply phish the customer's information to sell to auto dealerships, with no intention of replying to them(unless harvesting further information) or selling them a vehicle.
He sends a PDF of 50+ vehicle descriptions and links to use pictures of the vehicles to each trainee, claiming this is the intellectual property that you are paying for with the seminar. These vehicle descriptions are used by dozens of people, hundreds of times, across the nation.
Upon reading the Craigslist terms of use, I immediately informed Thomas Jenkins of the violations of the agreement and the monetary penalties therein, to which he replied, "is this something you are interested in?"; indicating that he was already aware of this information.
He claims to have trained hundreds of people across the United States to operate this enterprise, posting thousands of fraudulent ads, and potentially illegally phishing hundreds of thousands of people's personal information for profit. He claims he is planning to relocate his scam to Europe next year, and create a commission based payment collection program off of each of his trainees. He does not make his "students" aware of the fact that what he is teaching them to do is illegal. He has multiple employees assisting with this scam, and supposedly operates his office out of San Diago, CA.
As far as I know, he currently does not conduct the phishing himself(only conning people out of money for the training of such), but claimed to have started off by personally utilizing this scheme in the past to generate auto sales for his own used car dealership.
Thomas Jenkin's phone number is (760)681-2000 and he may also be using the name Samuel Leath. His business name is "Bentley Consulting," his email address is [email protected] and his website is kickasscarleads.com
His employees names, who work in his office, are Howie: (858)609-9717 and Erica: (858)533-5046.
His prodigal "student" and employee who he keeps on a retainer to provide personal testimonials to assure people that the business is credible is named JamieLynn Harum, and she operates her fraudulent business out of the Seattle/Portland areas, claiming to be phishing tens of thousands people's information to sell to local auto dealerships for predatory lending purposes. Her phone number is (646)574-6416 and her fraudulent business is incorporated as an LLC. She claims to earn over $20k/month in profit by illegally garnering these people's information.
