I was contacted by the scammer through my university's job board. They asked for basic contact information from the resume, and then told me I had been hired. Then I received a package containing a check for $1962.18 from the Jewel Date Company of Palm Desert, CA., which was suspicious to me since I was contacted by someone claiming to be Paul Mcaneary of Paul Mcaneary Architects Ltd.. I was supposed to deposit this check, cash it, withdraw 10% + $100, and deposit the remainder in another account.
