I was contacted via an unsolicited text. A person identified themselves and said they found my information on Indeed and LinkedIn. They said they were in the HR department for JD Homes. After a few text exchanges, they proceeded to conduct a job interview via text messages. I found this highly irregular.

Person name Paul Sands reached out to me by text stating they saw my profile on indeed/linkedin and offering me a job. They asked to do a one hour “text” interview. After series of question regarding hours, commitment, and what my mobile carrier and bank was, the person said I am hired. Then tells me I need to have these softwares: My job business essentials software 2019, US Patent Single Users Pack simply accounting 2019, Apple Final Cut Express 3.5 HD Upgrade, Norton Ghost 9.0, Microsoft Office XP 2019 Standard Upgrade, Peach tree Premium Accounting 2019. I asked if they will send these to me to download or how would I obtained the access to these software. That’s when they said I need to send $200 through cash app to be approved and will be reimbursed. I said I don’t feel comfortable and would there be other way and they said that is the process. I start feel skeptical and start researching and requested if they can provide me with their or HR’s LinkedIn profiles and they didn’t respond. I refused the job and expressed my skepticism which they said “whatever, this is legit”.
