Type of a scam Employment
The interview goes on and at end up offering me the job, and they tell me to check in with them the next day and that they were going to send me money to get supplies that I would need for the job. At this point I knew it was a scam as any credible employer wound send any materials required, not send a check and hope the employee purchases the items. The next day a check arrives and it's a little bit under $5000, and the name at the top of the check says Norrick Petroleum, not iWay. At this point I acted as if I had deposited the check (they did ask for the confirmation number) and I said bank flagged the check and froze my account for fraudulent behavior. This is when the individual stops pretending, saying that I'm a liar and to stop joking, and eventually stops messaging me back all together. The names used in this scam were Erickson Derek and Michael Simmons. The email addresses used were [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] (the email used to set up the interview).
